Because I always gotten it from the yahoo groups but for some reason it has not been posted up there as well I have tried to post a couple of times and my post are not getting posted so not sure whats going on

I don't know what Yahoo group you're talking about, but Sentinel comes with the scanner and is available directly from Uniden:

Follow the instructions on this web page to get it.

Went to test the 1.16 firmware on the NXDN48 system that uses the Direct Frequency Assignment (DFA) and the new Firmware does not allow reception of this system.
I had programmed all the frequencies in with LCN of 0 to use the LCN finder. I turned on the LCN Finder through the menu and saw 0/8 LCN found. Almost immediately it said ALL LCNs Found and prompted saving. I saved it and it immediately went to 1/8 LCNs found and stayed that way for 20 minutes. While this was going on, my DSDPlus setup was following traffic so there should have been more LCNs found.
I went into the system via the menu and found that the LCN that had been assigned to the Control Channel was 20012.
I deleted that and reran the LCN Finder and the results were the same.
I scanned for a while with this odd LCN that the scanner found on the control channel and only got a quick popup for each transmission. A couple were as long as a second and I was able to see some TGIDs but they did not come close to matching the DSDPlus display. They were however, matching the radio IDs of whoever was talking but showing it as a TG.
I did not catch a Control Channel swap so I can't say if a different CC would show another strange LCN.

For NXDN DFA, just set the control channel frequency and run LCN finder. No need to put in the voice channels. If it does not work well, please capture logs from the control channel and one voice channel in conventional mode.

If you have the file, you can. However, Uniden only supports updates through Sentinel.

Listening to the 536 remotely I am getting a weird digital hum after a digital transmission which seems to last for a good 20 seconds (on and off). I thought it was proscan, but I connected directly with VLC and I still get it. I don't hear it when I am listening normally through the speaker. I have 2 536's and both are doing it on this firmware.

I attached a quick recording of what it sounds like (at the 8 second mark). I will hear it often after the transmission ends and while the radio is scanning.

I also noticed this issue last night while listening to my local P25 system on my 536 via ProScan. I will double check my settings tonight to be sure.

OK I am getting the noise now after digital transmissions that are a bit long. Not what I experienced before and it does not happen all the time going to double check my settings.

Listening to my 536 audio via Wi-Fi in ProScan, I'm not hearing any noises in the streamed audio or the recordings.

I do not believe it is a proscan issue. I have heard it using VLC also.

It doesn't always occur, however when it does it starts directly after a digital transmission. It appears to be very intermittent and the length of time it lasts is inconsistent as well.

Stupid question Paul.

How do you know the NXDN system is DFA? Is there an indication on the radios display indicating this?

Thanks!

So far, I have only heard it on the trunked P25 system I monitor daily. Conventional and IDAS haven't exhibited the issue. It is almost like it happens when returning to the CC after a transmission. When it starts buzzing, it will continue until the next transmission starts and is pretty intermittent as far as when it happens (no real pattern that I can see).

Both my 536 are Proscan via Wi-Fi... I'd like to see if it does it through the line out jack (to sound card) too. Maybe even try a 436 in that setup to see if it is a wi-fi / 536 only issue.

I have one of my 536 up here:

Why not install Sentinel?
Even if it's just to update the firmware.

Once installed. The current firmware is stored in the directory.

C:\ProgramData\Uniden\BCDx36HP_Sentinel\Updater

You can copy it (*.bin) and save it anywhere you want.

Just had the buzzing noise in ProScan. I restarted ProScan and it started immediately before I even got a transmission. I tried switching to a different audio output (a bluetooth speaker instead of the computer's internal speakers, and the problem went away.

If you've never installed Sentinel, and used it to update your scanner, your database in the scanner is seriously out of date. Probably several years, as the initial database load harks back to when the scanner was first released for sale. That's why your first move, on any of the database scanners (Uniden x36HP series, Home Patrol-1 or -2, and the Whistler scanners such as WS1088, WS1098, and the TRX series) should be to download and install the software provided by Uniden or Whistler, then download the most recent database version.A number of systems, in both Canada, as well as in the U.S. have changed over time.

I see where you were asking for a previous firmware update for the 536HP last summer, so your database is definitely a year out of date (but as noted above, probably longer). Is the reason you have not installed Sentinel because, perhaps, you are using a Mac, and not a PC? If that's the case, are you programming everything by hand? Since both Sentinel, and both the third party software choices ARC536 & ProScan, are written for Windows, and not Apple's iOS? If that is the case, take a look at this: Mac Users of Police Scanner Radios | ScannerMaster.com
