Wow, they got hit with one? The update just worked, but www still down.

Per their own answer they were hit May 30 and the updates worked for almost a month and then they stopped and it was because of building damage. The other answer is they were hit in a security breach and could have been offline doing security updates. Who knows the real answer they are not very forthcoming.

Wow to both, and bummer to both. I haven’t been on here in a while so when I quickly saw this thread last night, and in light of what has been going on with Whistler as of late, I thought “uh oh, they went under or sold or something…”

Hypothetical question: Since the software limitations for the TRXs are because they want to limit access to the RR database from which they get their updates, can paid RR members use an as-yet-unwritten application leveraging their database access to do updates in the future?
I'm in IT so believe me I know it's not just a matter of dESiGNiNG a GUi iN vB and it would basically mean using two programs for the TRXs which is kind of stupid in 2024. However, even if this latest issue is addressed, Whistler is apparently not forward-thinking enough to have a provider host their shiz or at least have a DR plan in place and we'll need to do...something.

I got my TRX-2 before scanner and radio prices ballooned, but I'm still not interested in losing money on resale if I can still make it work.

I understand that, but it wasn't before, with little-to-no explanation beyond what could be sort of verified by the Weather Channel. What happens when they need to cut costs or, worse, need to reorganize due to changing business conditions? As of 1615 CDT the site is still down and there are no major/backbone service outages being reported. That's not behavior of a well-managed business.

Socket error 1101, Host not found again!! Can't update using "EZ Scan" Plus there web site is gone. Ugh!!! Trying to update my TRX-1
