I'm not understanding most of this, but seeing there was a new firmware to be had I did update my radio as I always do. I was getting RSSI values of 85-91 on my local system and it has now dropped to 60-something. I am not hearing some channels anymore. My vhf/uhf analog performance on my SDS100 was as good as or better than my 536 and other scanners and I have never complained about that. I cannot hear my local airport towers now. So it is safe to say this fw update was not good for me. How do we reverse this?

So, -60dBm is better than -85 to -91dBm, so your signal strength is actually measuring stronger, not weaker.

To go back to the previous version, go back to the first page of this thread and look for a link in somebody's post for previous firmware versions. UPMan replied to the poster saying he doesn't maintain that site. It has firmware versions for most of the Uniden models.

Gotcha, so less is better. Have to admit, I am not one to watch the tech numbers. So, I went back into Sentinel and rechecked everything and rebooted the scanner. Then rebooted again after unseating it from computer and everything seems back to normal. I get the vhf airport towers now and the P25 TGs are back to normal, I can hear Montgomery County once again! So, to those of you who are having any reception problems, just try physically rebooting scanner disconnected from comp and see what happens. Can't explain it, but the boo-boo is all better now :)

HI N9PBD, Good information, so the lower the dBm number the better is the signal strength? Where can we find a good basic understanding of the filters and how they work? Thank You and others sharing so we can learn....

Yes, basically, but since the numbers are negative (less than zero), the closer you get to zero (smaller negative numbers), the stronger the signal is, so -60 is actually higher than -85? Clear as mud, right?

Early on in this thread, @gillham posted some links with info on filters: Post #18

So glad I didn't upgrade to 1.07.02. Been testing the 1.07.00 version for about 30 hours and had to go back to "original" setting for some of my conventional sites. Please restore the "original" feature in future releases.

When you guys open your SDS100 in mass storage mode what is the default folder named? I think mine got renamed early on when I didn't select the correct profile. It is named BCDx36HP.
