The NAC stays displayed because it is transmitted on the control channel. It should be constant, voice or CC.

Jason:

I want to thank you for collabarating together with this beta firmware before it's public release. We were able to work out a few bugs prior to it's public release on Phase 2 systems.

For those that might remember, some time ago a few of us noticed that during voice transmissions on Phase 2 talk groups, the NAC would either disappear or show and entirely different NAC than the control channel was using. This was causing some decode issues, and I relayed this to Jason via private messages. After a few back and forths with beta firmwares, we finally were able to resolve the issue. I have a couple busier Phase 2 systems near by, and Jason took a few road trips to test on his end. I've been running this firmware for many months now and I'm happy to report all is resolved in regards to the Phase 2 talk groups NAC's.

Congratulations on your new Radio Reference title, you deserve the accolades for all the hard work "behind the scenes" over many years!
I'd like to see a return to the "UPMan days" when beta firmwares with instructions on how to load them into scanners will return. This would expand the "beta testers" to a larger audience and engage owners of not only the SDS line of scanners, but could also be included in older models too. What say you @jasonhouk , can this be suggested to the Uniden higher ups?

Sentinel....just like it's always been.
I tried that but when I click on update firmware my file manager opens indicating Sentinel is looking for the actual firmware update file to use to update. Last few times I did updates I downloaded the actual file.

I'm sure Undien is always open to suggestions.

Where do I find the actual update? All I can find is changelogs.
Use Sentinel up update your SDS model.

Step 1: Connect the scanner and select Mass Storage mode
  • Connect your Uniden SDS100/200 scanner to your computer using a USB cable.
  • Power on the scanner and on the device itself, select Mass Storage mode when prompted (usually by pressing the E or Enter key).
  • Allow your computer a moment to recognize the scanner as a removable drive.
Step 2: Check for and install the firmware update
  • Open the Sentinel software on your computer.

  • In the menu bar, go to Update > Update Firmware.

  • The software will check the scanner and compare its firmware to the latest version available online.

  • If an update is available, Sentinel will download it and write it to the scanner's micro SD card. Follow any on-screen prompts.
Step 3: Complete the update
  • Once the download is complete, unplug the USB cable from your scanner.
  • The scanner will automatically apply the firmware update and reboot itself. This process may take a few minutes.

I would like to see a firmware update to address the varying volume from different radio unit ID’s within the same talkgroup. Such as 5 city system, Elyria’s fire command radios come in 10 times louder than other id’s. Lifecare, Lorain’s fire and police also have this issue. Very annoying to listen when you have to keep adjusting volume on one conversation in a transmissions from different radio unit ID’s
Thanks.

Agree with you on this...
We need some form of an AGC...

I do not want to hijack the thread. I would like to see the Encryption algo and the KID displayed on encrypted systems. Most of the SDR programs now display this so I think its time for Uniden to also support this.

Tested the SDS200 FW and NAC now shows on the large province wide system (LMRN).

Has this new FW improved the decoding of any P25P2 systems or just under the hood and the specifics which notes indicate ?

On a different note, I am wondering if our new Uniden rep is the same Jason whom left the Unication few years ago ?

Thanks.

Newby question... what are the benefits/uses of this feature: "A new menu for switching headphone audio output phase has been added."

See above.

When listening with stereo headphones, the out-of-phase audio gives an odd sound to the audio, and for those that use the headphone output with an external mono speaker, it wreaks havoc, cancelling the audio to the point that no matter how high the volume, one can barely listen to it. This firmware feature, which can be set to "in phase" or "out of phase" (default is the latter, or in other words, exactly how it's been before the upgrade) corrects this, and allows the user to choose which output mode as they desire. It does not affect the internal speaker output.

This was a pleasant surprise. I was updating my programming tonight and unaware of the updated firmware. I clicked the button to check for new firmware- and it started updating😊.

Based on the release notes, and the reported findings, it's not isolated to certain systems, if that's what you're asking?
