• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

It will only push audio setup like this I'm assuming that it is a bug in phase 2 systems being programmed in the g4.

Are you positive you have the correct RFSS and site ID? Those should have zero effect on a call being TDMA or FDMA.

In my other P25 systems, I have both of those values set at FF. Those systems are working for my area.

My problem was that I left those 2 values empty, I recall the default is set to "1". So I added those 2 values to reflect "FF" and it should work. I'll report tomorrow as I'll be in that area. But I'm pretty sure that I will be able to pick up the P2 system.

Again...
Thanks Seth for helping me troubleshoot this!

Mine is working I was just helping maximus, I use FFF as well for RFSS and site ID because it won't push audio with the actual values per the database and the scanner.

I understood that. My point was TDMA or FDMA shouldn't make any difference with regards to the RFSS or site ID. I suspect you don't have the correct RFSS or site ID values and that's the issue.

And I'm not arguing with you as I don't have a G4 and I have no idea what system you are referencing, but on my G5 I use the correct values and it works just fine for TDMA.

I should be OK now that I have actually put in those 2 values. I'll give it a try early tomorrow morning and see if that works.

I honestly think that will work as that was my mistake in not inputting any values.

I have the correct values but with the Harris system I'm listening to and the firmware in my g4 it wouldn't push any audio with it setup with the correct values. Even had Ray look at it remotely.

Which system? I’ve found many times that the radioreference database is incorrect when it comes to RFSS and Site. The easiest way is to use the FF value and the G4/5 will actually display the correct value. You can then add those correct values and reprogram your device. Please make sure you submit corrections to the DB. The other biggest mistake is people using the DEC instead of HEX values.

Maximus I sent you a PM with the correct values you should be using.

Seth, I guarantee you do not have the correct values. Just because it’s Harris, it doesn’t matter. I have 35 systems in my G5 all with correct values, both Big M And Harris...all come in just fine.

Unication owes the people who paid $150 for the Phase II upgrade something to retain their goodwill. I'm glad they can offer the upgrade for free, but they essentially trampled on their most loyal customers who upgraded when Phase II first became available (only a few months ago.) If Uniden tried to pull something like this, the fanboys would have been all over the Uniden threads. This was an avoidable cockup.

You need to enter "A" and "A". The G4/5 display in decimal, but PPS uses hex.

To all the people upset about the free Phase 2 upgrade, I would suggest you voice your concerns to Unication directly as their is no guarantee they will see the complaints here.

Below is a link to their "contact us" web page...

https://www.unicationusa.com/location--by-product

Let's keep this thread about technical issues or general info about the upgrade,

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

I will try A A tonight. Is there any benefit to having this correct even if it's working fine with FF?

If you have other sites in the area with the same system ID and WACN it ensures you hear only the specific site you want to hear. With all F's you hear any site.

Plus the satisfaction of knowing your G4 is actually programmed properly.:p

Only one system on a Harris multi site lsm with all red control channels. But I did put A in system site and RFSS and it is working thanks for helping me get it properly set.

Yea! I've gotten 2 things right this year. That's a record for me (according to my wife anyway).
