Does anyone know if the SDS-100 or SDS-200 is designed so where a future addition of TETRA is available?

It has a software designed I/Q demodulator, the same as those SDR dongles, that generates a good enough signal to be able to decode everything. The DSP that decodes the signal needs to be powerful enough to handle tetra, which needs more processor power than the current modes and someone mentioned that Uniden had to use the DSP overclocked. If that's true then it's a no can do.

Ok, I forgot to add "That also handles simulcast systems properly"

Does that include the SDS200 as well?

Well I heard that some of the shippers will be shipping the SDS-200 this week. Not sure what day but counting on them to get the shipments started and get these units into the mailing system for delivers. Exciting news

Kind of vague. We’ve heard that for weeks now: End of January to first of February. Easy statement to make and be right. We’ll see. Hopefully so as I want to hear real world reports and see those install pics.

I know its vague but I asked the question from one of the distributors and they said most likely this week. The faster the better

I am jumping to the window everytime I hear an engine rumble outside, the sound of a big sliding door, or the hiss of air breaks, as I am the expectant father of two babies this week - an Icom IC-R8600 and the Uniden SDS200! Very exciting week for my radio hobby! I will try not to ask too many stupid questions this month in the forums haha

I thought someone here mentioned Feb 1 was the date these things were shipping out (other than the spurious Feb 8 claim on Amazon)? If they do go out on Friday, people would start getting them early next week depending on the shipping company used and how far their package has to travel.

I'll play along. Even if they started shipping from the Distributers on Friday 1 Feb, they still need to go to the companies you purchased them from such as Scanner Master, BearCat Warehouse, HRO, etc. Say the distributer is is located in Texas near Uniden. Now it must go 3 days buy UPS/FedEx ground to Scanner Master in MA. With the weekend your looking at 4 days. Than Scanner Master has to inventory, package and ship the scanners out. Thats an extra day seeing pickup is not till the next day. I am leaning more to the week of Feb11 in my scenario. Again it all depends on distributor location, who you ordered from, will it drop ship or ship from company you purchased from. There is a chance some may see it by next week. Again nobody really knowns until tracking numbers start to drop.

I know the feeling. But, you shouldn't need to do that - just follow the tracking info. Surely the retailers will provide that. If not, you sign up for the service from the main carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.) where they notify you by email whenever a package is arriving. I haven't had a package arrive at my house unexpectedly in a few years (unless it is sent parcel or something without tracking...). Just got notice this morning from UPS that I have one (no, not a scanner...) arriving tomorrow. Very helpful to know when to be looking for something. I even get an email everyday of what pieces of regular mail are incoming...

Which implies that there is a distributor or wholesaler between the dock and the retailer. Do we even know that that is true? It's conceivable to me that each crate on the cargo ship or cargo plane is already addressed for the retailer. It's also conceivable that they all go to Uniden's warehouse first and are shipped out to retailers from there.

Also, in this day and age, freight forwarders and logistics companies are the norm. Container loads of stuff from S.E. Asia goes to the forwarder who breaks up the container and divvies the contents out to retailers based on orders from Uniden.

Typically Uniden Warehouse (Roanoke, TX) --> Distributor (various) --> Dealer (multivarious) --> End Customer.

I know that at least one dealer has already started preparing shipping labels in anticipation of receipt and rapid turnaround.

The reason I said what I did was it was a question brought up many years ago and as far as I’m aware nothing has changed.

That was posted already, and it's 1.5 DIN. That's an industry standard designation.

But... (saving you the time to look at the thread): 7" x 3" (Standard DIN is 7" x 2" / Double DIN is 7" x 4")

The mounting holes are centered (1.5" from top/bottom) and are 2.5" back from the front.
The front-top 3/8" is beveled, so they would likely want to put the holes 2.0125" back. (or maybe just 2")

That should give them all they need to know.

I haven't checked, but it should be close to the size of a Whelen Cencom control panel (only deeper).

EDIT: CenCom is 6.875" W x 3.5" H, so the 200 is 1/8" more wide and 1/2" less tall, but darn close. The overall plate would take the same rack space.

I am aware that a inch contains 25.4 mm. So, 7x3 would actually be 177.8 x76.2 MM. Can you say with confidence that the radio is 175 mm or 177.8 mm wide? All that being said, Jotto does not have a faceplate that fits this radio that is not a kludge. In public safety service we want a plate that fits the radio to the millimeter so that things like drivers licenses dropped don't require a screwdriver and 10 minutes to fish out of a console. It's not unreasonable for I to expect a perfect fit faceplate nor them exact dimensions when building it.
