Your first sign that you're close to getting it is when your credit card gets charged. You'll see the pending charge before you get a tracking number most likely, plus you'll know for sure that you made it into the first batch.

Unless you paid with PayPal or some other service...

FWIW for those wondering about the shipping/delivery time for the new SDS200, here's what the various scanner dealers that are selling the SDS200 have posted on their websites (in direct quotes) as of today, 01-30-2019. Keep in mind that there might be more up-to-date information available that they have not yet posted on their respective websites.

Universal Radio: "Availability is scheduled for mid February."

Scanner Master: "The initial delivery is expected in early to mid-February with a much larger delivery to follow in approximately 30 days."

Webtron-x.com: No shipping/delivery time information posted on their website.

FactoryOutletStore.com: No shipping/delivery time information posted on their website.

Ham Radio Outlet: No shipping/delivery time information posted on their website.

The Ham Station: "We are told Uniden should have scanners in END of this week (week of Jan 28th)Meaning we should ship real soon."

Main Trading Company: No shipping/delivery time information posted on their website.

Bearcat Warehouse: "Uniden shipping date: Late Jan."

Zip Scanners: "Expected ship date of late Jan 2019!"

I suspect some of them, stating January, will be updating that language within 48 hours ;) :giggle:

But, for the sake of those who have ordered and are waiting, hopefully they are right.

How prevalent is that these days? In other words, what's the benefit of using PayPal, or some random service, when you can just use a credit or debit card?

I guess with these scanners it doesn't really matter in the purely mechanical sense of paying for the product. But with my other hobbies, especially RC helicopters, without using PayPal my bank simply will not allow me to do business with the Chinese sites that are prevalent in the RC hobby.

In all reality yes you are correct about your credit card being charged or being charged thru PayPal. As the case with the pre-order where I bought my SDS-200 once I pre ordered it a month ago I got charged a month ago on PayPal. Hopefully next week I can have my item that I already paid for. Not a big deal.

Oh yeah if we do not see any tracking numbers after Feb 1 then some people will start lynching and of course the language will start to change with each dealer with an update on shipping with delays or something that will sit nice and pretty with the people that pre-ordered.

Well some people might not have enough money in their checking to cover the debit portion.

Then people might not have enough credit to use their credit card.

Then you can use PayPal if you have PayPal credit. If you use their credit most of the time you can get 6 months no interest but just pay the payment each month. I personally think its a great service. Each month you pay your payment and no interest and at 6 months you just pay the remaining balance and you are good to go.

Many people like it because there is no need to give your CC info to a retailer if they accept PayPal - you use the PP site to securely sign in and send the payment and the retailer never sees your CC info. More secure.

Paypal is a nightmare to deal with if you ever need a refund. Paypal tells you to contact the merchant. The merchant tells you to contact Paypal. I once spent a month going back and forth trying to get a lousy $15 refund from a sporting goods store. I no longer use Paypal except for Ebay transactions.

Never had an issue. Just received a refund back this morning, actually, for an item that was damaged in shipping and I returned. Simple. Secure. No issues here and certainly no nightmare in my experiences.
