Correct. Not many people realize that Joe not only runs Uniden and Airspy.us, but he also works for the USDA and had a big role in these changes. Stay tuned!

You forgot to include that my last name is really Biden. The FCC does what I tell them.

At least you haven't found my investment in Whistler yet...... That's why they are not making new models - to drive sales to Uniden.

On topic, seeing as these new Uniden radios lack P25, they wouldn't be the best choice to be used as a traditional "police scanner" for monitoring public safety. They would, however, be a good candidate for the general hobbiest looking to monitor railroads and businesses. I live in an industrial town for example, with many manufacturing and processing plants that use DMR and NXDN radios for communications.

Gold star. Someone 'gets it'. :)

...I still do not know the MSRP.
For pricing information you should check in with ACL Distributors, your Uniden Master Distributor located in Marriottsville, MD. As posted on their BCD160DN webpage and BCD260DN webpage, they are currently instructing Uniden dealers to "Call For Dealer Pricing."

Based on that posted information on their website, it would appear that ACL Distributors currently has MSRP and Dealer Pricing available. If you contact them and find anything out, please post the information for the many RR members who are following this thread.

No. You can bet on that. There may be models that are discontinued through attrition, but these models will not directly replace any existing model.

We MAY see them around the end of the year. I still hope they are available in late December which is a possibility. Production is starting soon.

I still do not know the MSRP.

i think we may and i say may, see them in 2024, Christmas is coming on fast i don't think we have time for the rest of 2023

It was almost nice to see this form return, however, I was thinking I could pick this up when avaialbel and move my DMR stuff to it and open up some space on the P25's. It is crazy how restrictive it can get sometimes when monitoring. At this point I have 13 scanners and still miss stuff. 🙁

Damn, no wonder you sound confused 🤣

Not gonna get political. I'm sure you understand. Jokes are one thing, but politics need not be discussed.

As for the Christmas timeline, it's gonna be close. They will probably come in December 26th.

For pricing, if HQ does not know yet, it's likely nobody outside Uniden does. They can speculate as many have here, and there are I bet some really good estimates, but nothing firm yet. ACL's "Call for dealer pricing" is probably a standard comment, and anyone who is a dealer has talked to them and anyone not a dealer would have to go through an application process before pricing is discussed. That said, it is possible they know. They are more 'need to know' that info than anyone else.

If I missed it, sorry. But on the BCD160/260DN does 25-512 mhz mean there are no breaks? Mainly is 380-400 mhz covered? If so, can you set the channel steps to 25khz am 225-400 mhz, especially from 380-400 as you cannot on some scanners? Is there an owners manual available?

You can regard it as a BCT15x with added DMR and NXDN digital conventional modes. But it has been stripped of closecall and perhaps even the filters and chip for FM broadcast are missing. It will have a programmable bandplan. I haven't seen or heard if they also have stripped one of the 1:st IF filters, one 250Mhz and one 380MHz, then that 380-400Mhz range will be unavailable if the 250Mhz filter are gone. If they have removed all those components then the cost reduction will be massive compared to a BCT15x.

For those anxiously awaiting a new BCD160DN and/or BCD260DN around December 26th (per JoeBearcat), the good news is that you currently have 2 different computer programs available for the 2 new models.

Butel has posted on their website that their ARC260 software (good only for the BCD160DN and BCD260DN) is available for pre-order right now for $29.99 with a December 2023 release date. FYI if you use the promo code "UNIDEN" during checkout you will save 10% bringing the price down to $26.99.

Per the ProScan website, ProScan version 22.0 currently supports the BCD160DN and BCD260DN (as well as 25 additional Uniden scanner models) and the license cost is $50 which is good for activation on 2 computers. They have also prominently posted "BCD160DN & BCD260DN scanners not out yet."

Let’s hope uniden doesn’t use the same battery as the SDS100 uses. I’ll wait for both uniden and Icom handhelds to hit the market before deciding. Zero issues with my R30 batteries. So leaning towards Icom For now.

If it covers 380-400 Mhz then I am interested, otherwise it is useless for me.

Butel has some different discounts, if you sign up for their newsletter you get a 10% discount code. If you are a returning customer you get a discount and also if you buy several products at the same time.

Uniden BCD160DN have the same format (and circuit boards?) as Unidens lower end portables and use AA batteries.

Hmmm, I guess you didn’t look at the preliminary info sheet regarding the BCD160DN. The picture and specifications clearly shows two rechargable batteries.
