I went to mulvane ks today. I confirmed that 2281 is Butler Co SO. i heard plenty of Sheriff traffic. i looked up one of the roads, Hopkins switch road and it falls in Butler county. trying to remember other roads to double check it with but forgot them. i don't know if they are simulcasting to UHF but did hear something on UHF briefly, a few seconds, as well. El dorado, augusta and Butler FD was still on analog as normal.

i found a new talkgroup the other day from emporia, 173 which i think is a KDOT.

also i believe Morris county/ Dwight tower is online with KSICS now because i put in the freqs from the FCC that isn't listed on the wiki and i could just barely get a control channel from emporia on my 3rd floor apt. this is the one 866.550

Yeah, I've been hearing 2301 for some time now. Hard to say what it is. Definitely Butler County from the radio ID numbers, but what agency, I'm not sure. Units 501, 502, and 503 heard frequently. Seems to be Public Transportation as they talk about pickup at such-and-such or drop off at such-and-such. Someone needs to listen to it more to be sure before submitting it though....

If you have been picking up some long range comms between Sunday evening and Tues evening around Wichita, it could be because there was an APCO conference going on there during this time. I do know there were a couple of radio classes and a Motobridge class. Might of been trying things out.

I've been hearing the Kingman Co sheriff on 486 for a couple of months now. I don't think they are using it full time yet.

501, 502 and 503 are Butler County Emergency Management radio numbers. 2301 is an Emergency Management channel.

Encrypted.......

I was monitoring a short while ago and noticed that Kansas Wildlife and Parks has gone encrypted in the N.E. area . Don't know if it's for a specific reason or just general standard operations now. The tower was 207.......

I think i found a new talkgroup for wolf creek. It's 1836. They were doing field tests for a drill. they were using Bravo and other names for the teams just like the military and were west of Osawattamie. they were doing MicroR readings and dosimeter readings. The other team is Hotel. "32 micro R this is a drill" one reported. I googled Micro R and found those are the meters used by nuclear power plants for radiation testing. Control is asking Alpha team for their highest Dosimeter readings. Team echo has 0MR for their dosimetry. This is quite interesting hearing something different.

There is a large exercise surrounding the Wolf Creek Generating station this week involving the US Department of Energy, state and local units.

the other day during the daytime i heard a roll call next on the 4003 KI NE4-PSAP Northeast 4 -- Public Safety Answering Point .
I heard the following counties: Miami, Coffey, Anderson, Lyon, Osage, Chase, and Morris. not sure if i missed Wabaunsee county. not sure about the other counties further northeast. maybe they called those on a separate roll call. it sounded much similiar to a ham radio next. then they did a recall for the late or missed counties. Emporia Police answered for lyon county. I can't remember if chase answered. So i know now that Emporia Police does have some sort of KSICS 800mhz capability. rumor has it EPD will be switching to it when they get the money. the last i heard of it in the Emporia Gazette is the debate of buying all new vs maintaining what they already have here. The city just built a new tower about 5 yrs ago with new antennas and repeaters for 450mhz not to mention all those radios they upgraded to back in 2004 or so.

Emporia PD does hav KSICS capability of some kind, as do the ambulances. Whenever they transport a patient out of county, they radio in to Emporia PD on the NE4 PSAP channel when they arrive and clear hospitals. As for the roll call, Wabaunsee Co is in the NE5 region, so they would be called on NE5 PSAP.

Trouble monitoring Leavenworth County and Douglas County

Like my titles says I am trying to monitor KSICS from my home office here in Johnson County. I am having no luck hearing Leavenworth County or Douglas County on the system. I can hear KHP Troop A on the Johnson County tower, clear as can be.

My current programming has Johnson, Wyandotte, Douglas and Leavenworth County towers programmed in. No luck hearing anything beyond the Olathe, (Johnson County) tower, and even that is only KHP Dispatch on TG 1199.

I do work from home monitoring Douglas County Fire and EMS, which is analog for all operations, currently monitor Douglas County Law Enforcement through an online scanner. Also monitor Leavenworth County Fire and EMS, station alerting analog frequency. That frequency seems to be station alerting and partial operations, while other operations seem to be on KSICS as I do not hear everything.

I am using my RS Pro-106 with an 800Mhz rubber duck. Doing all of my programming with PSR-500. Importing directly from the database on this site. System Type is set to P25 Auto and Multi Site mode is set to Roam.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your scanner shouldnt be set to Roam on multi site. Try setting it to stationary. Mulit site set to Roam will cause the scanner to find the strongets signal and lock on to it only scanning traffic on THAT tower.....which in your case would be set to the Olathe tower. Setting it to stationary will make the scanner scan through every tower in the system. So if youre in range of the douglas and leavenworth ksics towers it should scan the traffic coming across them. hope this helps
