I wouldn't send it back.... I am not sure, off the top of my head, what the cause might be.... If it happens on only one freq it could be a birdie or other internal hitch.... Eddie might have a solution for it.... I'd try attenuation or, if you don't need that freq to monitor what is happening, lock it out.... how close are you to a transmitter on that freq?

Just fishing right now....

I am not familiar with the 396 nor the software (I am getting a 246 soon to learn Uniden)... is there a way to reload the orginial freqs into the radio and check them.... then when you transfer them with the software to keep the same settings.... even to the point of manually entering just one freq and changing the mode on it and see what it does.... are there any other digital systems near you that you could use to check your digital decode? You might try posting in the Scanner Software thread and see if anyone can give you tips.... there are a lot of people who read these threads who might have some good answers....
good luck and keep us posted.

Have you changed your threshold for APCO-25. By default it is 8 and auto, I have been experimenting with mine and found less motorboat sound at "7".
If I set it to 10, motorboat is all I hear.

Is there something wrong with the Horse Cave transmitter for the KSP Bowling Green dispatch channel? I usually pick this channel up real good here in central ky, but haven't heard anything on it for over a week now. The frequency for this channel is 460.037. The alternate channel located at Horse Cave seems to work fine, just wondering if the storm last week done some damage to it? I've tried other frequencies listed in the database but can't pick any of those up.

Have you tried other frequencies for Post 3 in general or just the Horse Cave channels? I listen to post 3 with the Warren Co. repeater and have had no problems. Also welcome to the RR boards.

Thanks, I was picking them up the other night off the Sonora tower, but I could hardly make out what they were saying. I use a 996T with no ouside antenna. I just thought maybe they might be having problems with the tower down there.

I'm posting this again as I think it got overlooked with all the other posts that came after it:

Do the UHF radios still have the coverage reliability as the mobiles being as they're so much lower power? Are the VHF portables analog then? I know some of the troopers where I work have our VHF frequenices programmed in. I think the radio one of them has is an XTS 3000.

Thanks.

Kentucky State Police: Frequency

I am trying to find out if anyone can tell me if it is possible to scan the KSP-6 Dry Rdige area. I have a scanenr that does it all but have been unsuccessful in doing this. Can anyone help with the frequency set up or trunking to listen to Kentucky State Police Dry Ridge area (Area 6).

Hi Scoopy.... the better place for this one would have been the Kentucky Forum... but, yes, if you have a scanner that can decode digital you can easily listen to KSP..... go to KSP then scroll down to the Post 6 listings and program the freqs, enter them as FM and you are ready to go....KSP is not trunked but they use APCO... if you have additional questions let me know...

ok everyone I have a Pro-97 Triple Trunk Tracker I have found all the KSP-6 Dry Ridge frequencys but I can not find anything in my scanner manual on APCO format all they talk of is Motorola and EDACs etc. When I scan all these KSP freq's for Dry Ridge in bank 4 on my scanner all I get is it stops now and then on one and breaks with static/squelch breaking type noise. What mode do I need to program in??? Please help It says I have to program in one of these modes in with each freq (MO,ED, or LT) can any one advise ???
