Hey guys, so I have a bunch of the Med-X frequencies programmed into a fav list. Everywhere on the RR DB, they're listed as analog FMN with no PL/DPL. However, most of what I'm hearing are DMR modulation. I have them all set to "search" under audio option, however, the radio doesn't immediately recognize the transmissions as digital and I get the super-annoying digi-fart blast for sometimes 10 seconds before it realizes it's DMR.

There's got to be another way that I'm missing. I assume that all of the nations Med channels are not DMR, but I'm leaning on just deleting them all because they're honestly just a pain in the ass, to be frank.

What am I missing?!

Thanks!

Don't forget the VHF Med channels are shared with Bus Companies [what was know in the day as "Special Emergency"] frequencies.

What MED-X channels [VHF/UHF?] are you referencing..

odd to hear [not unheard of] UHF Med channels being used with DMR

I would see if anyone else local hears the same, as it could be interference to your local area

These... I only have 1-9 programmed (I cannot find the following list in the DB, of which I would like to import from!)

It's a pity that Uniden scanners seems to have a DMR decoder that are not sensitive enough. The default hold time of 2sec when scanning DMR systems are sometimes not enough to have time to detect and stop on the system and needs to use much longer times.

No such problems with Whistler scanners. There's something in the firmware code for DMR decode that are not working correctly, that probably happened when the scanner got the capability to handle RAS transmissions, as earlier firmwares seemed to work satisfactory.

I suspect it's the SDS getting overloaded. They are prone to doing this, especially in the UHF band.

I went looking thru NJ EMS Pages and did not find anything about DMR
VHF is SPEN /JEMS as Analog for BLS
UHF Med is for ALS no BLS Allowed, but nothing about DMR even in the TIC [Tactical Interop Communications Plans]

Med-1 through Med-9 in North NJ all DMR from what I'm hearing.

We do not use the Med Channels much anyone, almost all are using cellular for medical control. One of the issues years of go was the FCC allowed the secondary user full access to use of the freq. In the Newark area you will hear DMR as well as FMN which includes warehouse operations as well as airport airline operations. If you are still interested in keeping them, each county has a assigned PL and a state PL which would cut down on the noise.

the UHF Med channels have never been released to Non Medical purposes by the FCC.
if you have Airlines etc operating on them, notify the FCC

As to DMR, it has been heard that some Med9/10 [Dispatch] have gone DMR or P25, but the Medical Control Med1-8 and the newer splinters should still be analog [IMHO]
