Seems like it's just a waterproof 436 minus dmr and nxdn (no mention of it) with a lith ion battery and a built in dongle that can only be used with pc software.

With all due respect we don't know what it is yet as there is no information about it available yet. UPMan hasn't commented on behalf of uniden and nobody from any of the major distribution companies like universal radio has spoken up either. This thread is nothing but speculation na d guess work until the actual specs are released. All in all there really is nothing to discuss here except for the fact that there is possibly a new scanner on the horizon from uniden. Does anyone here have anything more concrete than that? And why have we trailed off into a discussion of p25 phase 2 conventional operation it doesn't exist get over it. The only two slot solution for simplex and conventional comms is DMR. Now can we please get back to the facts if there are any.

And the Owner of HRO stated to a person you know as much about the scanner as I do.
If I know Uniden they are now rushing to get the scanner released now that the cat is out of the bag before they make a comment about the scanner now that whistler has seen the new scanner.

Man alive boy how this thread is going down the toilet.A bunch of he said she said at this point. The bottom line if and when it comes out we will be notified one way or the other. If it comes to fruition which I believe it will great. But now with this thread we are talking just to hear ourselves talk.

I'm still not convinced it wasn't a deliberate leak to get people doing just what they are.

But since there has yet to be an established conventional P25 Phase II standard, it does not mean that it can't be.....

What advantage would there be? Having TDMA on simplex adds a needless level of complication.

Watch Pricing/Stock

Signs that a product may be coming to its EoL are pricing drops and stock availability. Just recently, you could snag a BCD436HP for 405 on NewEgg and Amazon. Prices are now slightly up to 430 but may come down to deplete stock and make room for a new model.

Another thing of note is that Uniden's site has been out of stock for a couple of months; this includes the BCD536HP. The BCD536HP can also be had for 480 on Bearcat Warehouse via NewEgg. I'm sure they will come out with the desktop model as well and the one I'll wait for later this year. The TRX-2 has failed my expectations and the BCD536HP and BCD436HP will hold me over until then.

The SDS-100 may retail for 500 and the SDS-200 for 600. You still have until the end of the month to return your Christmas gifts.:D

The point is P25 phase 2 conventional doesn't currently exist, and as it doesn't exist, neither does a radio that can decode it.

Well, seeing as there is no conventional mode P25 phase 2...

Well, real receivers should be desktop models and not handhelds. Too much manual interaction to make it worthwhile. Scanners are okay and convenient on a handheld.

But, from the most likely standpoint of AOR, it does. It will probably decode Phase II on a single voice channel at a time, but not track a trunk system. I sent an email to Taka, hopefully I'll be able to provide an answer from a credible source soon.

Let's just hope that Uniden listened to the end users. Drop in charging, built in GPS, multicast issues, a true remote head, etc. Otherwise same old radio - different package with flashy color screens.

And time will tell if all of this is even true......time will tell!! Meanwhile I'll be satisfied with my GPS modified BCD436HP and my BCD536HP. Not perfect but they are what I have right now.

I'm not sure I would want a remote head portable. :p

But, point taken - I hope they add all that to the next line, too.

Although I would not use the drop-in charging. I don't like my scanner tethered to anything. Drop in chargers promote premature charging hence reduced battery life. (and have for decades)

Built-in GPS could be useful. But how many would complain about the price for something they would not use?

Simulcast a no-brainer.

And add Bluetooth. (same price point argument as GPS)

Internal GPS is definitely a feature people find useful. There's a fair number of people willing to pay a stranger they met online to retrofit a GPS into their scanner. The actual cost of adding GPS would be less than $15 in wholesale quantities if the unit was designed for it from the beginning.

Bluetooth has pretty much already been ruled out as a feature that could be incorporated internally in a scanner.
