Verona should be up and running by June if all goes well.

Also Montclair ambulance should be on soon. They have the equipment and are waiting for programming and installation.
I've also been told that Cedar Grove is investigating the feasibility of moving onto the system.

I listen to the system on a rubber duck W-801 Regular Gainer BNC Portable Antenna and a BCD-436HP
I have no problems with it at all, audio or receive wise when I travel from Bergen County to NYC. Can you describe the problems you are having?

A lot of people, myself included, have LSM issues with this system. It doesn't matter what scanner or antenna you are using, it is more dependent on the location of where you are listening from. I can hear the Union simulcast fine, but the West Orange simulcast sounds terrible from where I am.

I agree with you,the BC-436HP to me,wins on phase 2.I tried the GRE 800,the BCD-536HP and I still like the BCD-436HP for 700MHZ.For 400MHZ its another scanner, the 436 and 536 are "weak" on that band.I got the most PSIC "hits" on the 436HP.

LSM issues are commonplace with scanners, not only on this particular system, but on many other simulcast systems as well. Many listeners of the Bergen County Public Safety trunked t-band system are experiencing LSM issues depending upon their physical location, as are listeners of simulcast systems in the Greater Philadelphia area.

I agree that most of the LSM issues are with scanners. The commercial radios used on this system are not experiencing this issue. It's tough to compare the high priced Motorola's to a $500 scanner and expect the same outcome. Hopefully future firmware upgrades from Uniden will solve this problem.

So you actually think that this system is designed for scanner listeners?

You are joking right? Listen to the users APX radios and you will hear it well

People have been complaining for years about LSM issues on scanners so I doubt there is going to be any firmware updates coming. It's probably too cost prohibitive.

If Uniden,Whistler like selling scanners they need to correct LSM issues somehow. If its been going on for years, they had all that time to fix it.
Theres no better time than the present to fix this.
This is our hobby,I dont care about any $8000 APX radio I cant afford.....
DSP''s ,Microprocessors, and they can make it happen......
They should get an APX radio and do some research.
We didnt think they'd get Provoice and they did.Right?

Verona can't move quick enough. Last night the tower on Bloomfield Ave was struck by lightning. They are still trying to get back to normal.

Westfield (Union County) had several radios delivered, and a member of PD was testing his on the way to work this afternoon.

Here's the latest on Verona. They are still testing various brands of radios, and have contracted with a radio engineer to advise them on exactly what they need. They have identified a few dead spots, but are very happy overall with the performance of NJICS so far. They have the money approved, and hope to have all the paperwork done by Memorial Day. Then to have all the equipment programmed , installed, and in service by Labor Day.

They have just finished the overhaul of their dispatch center this past week. It now looks like a state of the art facility, as opposed to the old 1980's style metal console.

The EDACS system was damaged in a lightning strike about 2 weeks ago, and that caused a slight setback. The e-dispatches system for the rescue squad was "fried" , and new parts had to be ordered, but that has now been fixed. They still have no idea what they will do with the EDACS. More info as I get it.

EDACS is end of life. I assume they would just shut it down after the move to NJICS, unless they plan on keeping some departments on there.

No better in Harrison with a P2 and a discone antenna looking at West Orange, I notice when I sit on PSIC trying to monitor a talk group the system / radio goes in * Finding Control Channel * mode.
