I find it interesting that my When I go into the Program Systems through the menu that they are in alphabetical order. Whereas the ones on my BR330T and BCD396T are in order of their quick key.

I LOVE the Close Call Do Not Disturb.

My favorite feature (other than the Dynamic Memory) is the Temporary Lockout. That is the very best feature! I love it. I have used it several times in two days.

I do have a question...How do you use the ATT without having to go through the menu? When I press FUNC and then .no, it turns on/off the active display.

The squelch seems to actually work versus the BR330T/BCD396T's squelch.

I really like the BCT15 and is why my Pro-2055 is on the trading block. I would love to get a BCT15 for the truck, but don't have a good place to mount the radio. A BR330T would look good in there though? Maybe a future upgrade (adding another BR330T to the shack.)

Anyway, the BCT15 is performing like a champ! Great receive using my Scantenna. It is better than the Pro-2055 by far from MY experience. I love it!

ATT = FUNC + 7 (second functions are below, not above, the keys)

Glad you are liking it!

Now that I have your attention, I repeat...

Thanks :)

As in delete? No, but you can set just ablut all the other attributes on them or lock them out. They are set frequencies selected by state.

I'm not seeing a place in the software to view all the Beartracker frequencies. You can view them one by one in the scanner itself. Maybe Paul can help you get a copy of whatever pre-programmed frequencies you are looking for.

I'd like to chime in that if a future OEM remote head unit is possible (BCT15 / 996), that would only make a great scanner even better. I have no idea how the guts of the unit are setup, and if it's even possible, but it would sure be nice!

The more I use this thing, the more I like it! WAY TO GO UNIDEN!

Ron, You are going to love the BCT15. It is awesome. I went ahead and bought the UASD for the BCT15. I didn't want to, but I did it anyway. Let me know what you think once you get it.

Ditto, as they say. Really great analog scanner. For the little bit of P25 stuff in my area, I'm keeping the 796. The 785 will go on Ebay when I get a few minutes to take some pictures.

The nice thing about the 396, 996, and 15 UASD programs is the the system files are interchangeable. Just copy and paste and you have 90% of your programming done.

Sorry to say this as a new 996 owner but I think you are right! The earlier photos of the 996 showed a more gunmetal look to the front panel but it is just silver.

Looks like I will do what Upman suggests and buy the black panel for the 15 and take the time to replace it.

I'm super interested in hearing how that turns out... how hard a job it is, etc. ... :D

A quick question regarding the fire tone-out decoding speed on the BCT15...

I've got a single department with three sets of tones:
1) A/B Tone Set - Station 1 Call
2) A/B Tone Set - Station 2 Call
3) A/B Tone Set - All Call

Because the department's frequency is the same, the three sets of tones are visually stepped through in the scanner, one set at a time. There is approximately a one second delay as it goes through each (and presumably listens for tone traffic).

Does the scanner actually cycle through each tone set faster than it appears on the LCD (the approx. one second delay)?
---EDIT:
Looks like I answered my own question... from the RTFM department...

"In standby mode, the display cycles through all monitored tone-out settings. Regardless of the current display, the scanner always alerts on any received tone-out that matches a stored setting."

And yet another question, or really an observation...

...when the scanner stops on an active frequency and the squelch breaks, there's a very low audible "click" as if the speaker amp is kicking open.

Anyone else notice this?

I scanned the BCT15 OM and through the BCT15 menu and didn't find my answer.

On page 46 of the OM, it shows a channel showing MODE, ATT, and C or DCS tones.

So the row above the SQK instead of showing the frequency shows

FM ATT C67.0

Is this another feature that only the 996 has? Where you can choose to either see the frequency or the mode/att/ctcss or dcs tones? Or can the BCT15 do this with some type of keypad combination?

Also, what is Alert + scanning? Is that part of the beartracker? You press hold, then Function, then 7. Press Scan and ALT+ shows on the bottom where the GRP QKs are normally located.

Thanks,

matt

Nevermind on the first question. I figured it out.

Press Hold, then Function, then 0.

This changes the display. I didn't see it in the manual, although I could have missed it.

BCT-15 Software

Order my BCT-15 yesterday from Communications Electronics, cant wait untill it gets in!! I see that Uniden has software for the BCT-15. Does anyone know if Butel will put out a program for this scanner? I have used Uniden software in the past and dont really care for it, but something is better than nothing. Gregory

I've ordered my last 3 radios from them. Generally, they will email you a UPS tracking number within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.
I received my radio 2 days after receiving my tracking number. MI. to N.C.

Thanks. I don't think it's in the manual for either scanner, but then again I might have missed it too. I think Mode 2 gives more information.

The only black unit I am aware of having been shown by Uniden was at CES and was clearly marked as prototype and disclaimed by Uniden as not being cosmetically correct (or were you also expecting the keys to be marked with little press-on stickers? :) ). All preview images relating to the actual cosmetic design show it as silver over grey. If you know of any places showing the unit as black w/o that disclaimer, let me know so that I can get that corrected.
