Bulk Paste/Ctrl+V paste/

Will there ever be functionality to paste from clipboard via Ctrl+V? I'm trying to delay my carpal tunnel for at least a few more years. :)

Also, would be nice to create 20 channels, and then bulk import them into proscan from an excel sheet and then pasting into the ch fields in proscan. This goes for numerical or alpha text fields.

Thanks!!

I would like to be able to click on a recording entry and have an option to take me directly to it in the file it resides in.

I am trialing ProScan 6.2 for the first time, with a BC780XLT. Is it possible to report duplicate frequencies across all channels?

And can you sort by frequency in a bank? I am not seeing these options as shown in the screenshots on proscan.org...

Ok, I am feeling really dense here...

I selected 30 channels, and tried to mass change the mode from AM to NFM. I activate the mode dropdown while holding SHIFT, but...it only changes the row I clicked on.

Is there any way to mass change the attributes (LO, Mode, Pri) of multiple rows?

I am unaware of any mass changing key strokes for Mode, from FM, to AM or NFM from Auto. Once you program your freqs and upload without changing the mode, turn around and download the settings from the scanner. Watch the Mode settings change from Auto to the appropriate tag.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; CPU iPhone OS 5_1_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B206 Safari/7534.48.3)

Anyone? Seems like the BC780 doesn't have the full usability feature set (ID duplicate freqs, sorting, what else?) as the other supported scanners. Can't find it documented anywhere.

Would really like some confirmation of this as I'm trying to decide whether to spend $50 on a license.

It seems you can only mass change most settings for ALL channels in a single bank or all banks but not just the ones you manually select.
I've used ProScan since it came out and mainly for the 780XLT and never noticed this. I've always changed, modes for example, on all channels in a bank and never tried to do say 20 channels at a time.

Mass changes work great as long as you are working with the entire bank or all banks.
I don't think there was ever a sort option for frequencies or a dup freq checker though for the 780 model but I could be wrong. I never used it if there were such a feature, not even for the other supported Uniden models.

Even with the shortcomings you discovered, in my eyes, ProScan is worth every penny. It is the only software package that will import directly from the database here at RR into the 780XLT. That alone makes it worth it for me. Plus I do use it for most of my other Uniden models as it covers most of the modern models which I own all. I also like the logging abilities of proscan over the others also.
I do not use the audio features so no comments on that part of the application.

The older app (ARC780) from Butel may support some of the features like dupe finder and freq sorting as well as mass change based on your selections but it has been a while since I used it being as it will not run directly under Win7 64 bit nor will it import from the DB web service here at RR.

The feature set is indeed nice, but it looks like the usability for the BC780 doesn't match up to the DMA scanners, even though it's all part of the same license & software.

See this page: ProScan Screen Shots

...and look at the 3rd screenshot down. See the red submenu choices "Sort" and "Utilities...Find Duplicates". I was expecting to see this under the Database menu for the BC780.

Would really like someone (i.e. Bob) to confirm this to make sure I'm not missing something.

I see that in the screenshot.
I do know the 780 data is saved in an XML format and the DMA scanners save in a generic TXT type format. I always wondered why the different formats.
Maybe that has something to do with the features not being available for the 780. Both formats are human readable with a text editor but maybe his sort routine cannot handle the XML files that the 780 produces.

I can't believe I never noticed these missing features before as long as I've been using ProScan for the 780!

Bob did fix an Edacs import problem I found with the 780 when importing from the database here a year or so back. The edacs talkgroup numbers did not import correctly when they started with 00- I think. He fixed that problem quickly as he usually does with all other problems.
Bob is great at supporting the software and adding features or fixing bugs.

Maybe he is away as I'm surprised he has not responded to your thread.
I do see the 3rd screenshot does say it is a DMA type scanner!

I am hoping he'll clarify the feature set. Yes, that screenshot does indicate "DMA", but was hoping there'd be a more explicit list of features per scanner, if that is indeed the case.

I agree. I would have assumed all the features were all available on all models. Not using some of them myself, I never noticed they did not exist.
I guess I don't change things in my 780 much these days.

Hopefully Bob will clarify this and maybe even come up with a way to add those missing features for the 780.

I know mine is full of duplicates!

Sorting, group changes, and duplicate checking can be done easily to the Non DMA type database. I was going to do it at one time but got busy on other items. Suggestions should be made via email so I can find them all in one place and can prioritize them. Saying that, I have a heavy workload and a vacation coming up so it may be sometime before I can look at it. Read this link Bug Reports & Suggestions

There ya go eorange!

Let me know if you emailed the suggestion's following Bob's message.
I'll stay out at this point as you are the one that noticed the missing features.

I'm sure we will see your suggestions in an upcoming version.
I think I'd use the dupe finder and I may even sort on Freq in some of the banks.

I'm glad you mentioned all this as it got me reading the FAQ at the ProScan site.
I knew I could install the software on two computers but I totally forgot that I could run more then one instance at a time. Every time I switched scanners, I was reconfiguring the settings in ProScan. I've now created several ProScan folders, one for each of my Uniden radios attached to this computer and can have them all going at the same time and ProScan logging each one.

Kruser, I will email the suggestions to Bob within a day, and will also post here hopefully for the benefit of others.

Thanks Bob for the consideration, and hope to see some new features for the oldie but definitely goodie BC780.

I sent 3 suggestions to ProScan support:

ProScan Suggestion #1 of 3: BC780 Duplicate Frequency Finder
It would be helpful to include a "duplicate frequency finder" in ProScan for the BC780, similar to the same feature for the DMA scanners.
Rationale: Many use the BC780 for mil air listening, which by its nature involves a dynamic set of frequencies that are added and change over time, unlike public safety. A dup finder would help conserve precious channel space in the banks.

ProScan Suggestion #2 of 3: BC780 Frequency Sorter
Include a frequency sort function in ProScan for the BC780, similar to the same feature for the DMA scanners.
Rationale: Mil Air scanning relies on scan speed, and it's been shown that scanning frequencies, sorted from lowest to highest, provides the best performance.

ProScan Suggestion #3 of 3: BC780 Mass Attribute Change
Provide the ability to select multiple channels and allow mass attribute changes (L/O, Pri, Mode, etc).

I sill cant believe you cant paste via Ctrl + V or select multiple entries using Ctrl + select. Or Add multiple new channels/groups/systems at a time.
