Hi Don,

Thanks for the quick comeback!

Sure enough, it reassigned all that stuff when I saved it. I also noted that there was an option not to reassign. And for the most part, the objects appear exactly as I wanted them to. Soooo.....

I take this to mean that I can use object #'s above 1851 as a scratchpad for organization (keeping those below 1851 from becoming previously occupied) and then Win500 will let me save it to the 'real' object #'s (0-1851) before I actually load it into the radio.

Does that sound about right?

Win500 should only reassign (after a confirmation from you) when you upload to the radio or save as the GRE Demo App's "BIN" format. If you save as Win500's native "P500" format, no reassignment will be performed - unless you've duplicated IDs in the 0-99,999 range!

Soooo.....

Yes.

I have a couple of P500 files that I use "regularly":

One file has Object IDs that are exactly what appears in the radio. I have my TSYSs on boundaries of 100, where each TSYS's TGRPs are x01 - x99 (I don't yet have a TSYS with more than 99 TGRPs). My CONV objects are numbered consecutively from 1000.

The other P500 file has things spread out much more. It also has much more data - more than will fit in the radio. I use it as kind of a "giant V-Folder" on the PC, and copy/paste to/from that file as I want to archive stuff or change what's in the "working" P500 file.

When I do RadioReference "imports" into the first file, I generally start each import's Object IDs at 10,000. I then re-assign and re-order as needed to "fit" within the radio's 0-1851 range.

Here's an interesting one. Using Version 1.14:

I have enabled all the columns in a list of TGs. Except the Latch LED column does not want to enable. When I try, it just copies the last thing in my clipboard to the Notes field.

Just FYI, I'm using Win500 and Windows XP on my Intel Mac through Parallels software, however, in prior versions I was able to do this without problems, so I don't think it's related to my setup.

Fixed in version 1.16. My stupid development tools gave the new "paste notes" menu item the same "ID" as the existing "add LED Latch column in TGRP" item - probably because they're in different menus.

Don, once again, AWESOME software to save the fingers and make scanning such a joy....

All, plz bear with me for a minute.... I am still learning the radio and the software (I don't have a radio in hand yet)... I notice in the WIN500 software that I have the option of selecting multiple sites in Moty systems but not in EDACS.... how do I enter muli-site EDACS without using an entire scanlist? Can I mix Mot and EDACS systems in the same scanlist or do they need to be in different lists?

MultiSite is only available for MOT and P25 systems. Each "site" in an EDACS system must be its own TSYS. I suppose that if the various sites didn't use the same frequencies or "LCNs", you could put more than one in a single TSYS.

You can definitely mix Mot and EDACS systems (rather, their TGRPs, because TSYS objcts don't belong to scan lists) in the same scan list. In fact, you can put any mix of any objects you want in the same scan list.

Thanks for the quick response.

On a sort of related thing, would it be possible to add an option to enable ALL the columns at once instead of doing each one by one? Maybe it's already there and I'm missing it.

Color selection suggestion: Since the scanner has presets in the color selection area (i.e. hit '2' to get a low intensity color, hex #39, which is useful for night) is there a way to get something similar in Win500? It takes a LONG time to click the down button to go from FF to 39 :>

I could add something like that, but have you tried clicking and "holding down" the arrows in the "spin controls"? They will increment/decrement as long as they're depressed, and will accelerate with time.

You're not missing anything.

I left out such a feature because it wouldn't give much (read: any) control over column placement. Every remaining column would be inserted after the column you right-clicked on, and in the order they appear in the "Add Column" popup menu. In the likely event you wanted the columns in a different order, you'd still have to delete each one and add it back where you really want it.

Even without such a feature, you only have to add the columns once. The selected columns and their placement and widths are stored, along with all of the other user interface settings, in the INI file.

Win500 Bug?

Hi Don,

Win500 Version 1.15:

I had several crashes to desktop last night while trying to write a V-folder. I had a p500 file that had duplicate object IDs and when I tried to write the file, I got the pop-up warning message asking whether I wanted Win500 to fix the problem. If I selected “No” (I wanted to go back and find the duplicate ID myself) Win500 immediately crashed to desktop (this happened every time I reopened and tried again). When I selected “Yes”, it apparently corrected the duplicate Object ID problem and allowed me to continue with the V-folder loading process.

Fixed in 1.18, and on the web site.

LOL! I WAS missing something! I know now why Win500 wasn't saving the enabled columns or even the COM port settings many times. Every time I upgraded to a newer version, I was overwriting every thing including the INI file.

DUH!

So certainly what you mentioned above definitely works and will do what I wanted.

Thanks again!

Possible Bug In TSYS ?

Don,

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but could you please take a look at:

Under TSYS where you can go to the little pop-up screen for entering the frequencies:

I have Copied several CC freq's from Excel, but it won't allow me to paste anything in here.
It does allow manual entry.

All other Copy & Paste's that I've tried are fine.

BTW: these are the Primary and Secondary CC's that go in here; right ?

Before doing the copy/paste, select the column in Excel and format it to use 5 or 6 decimal places: right-click on Excel's column header, select "Format Cells" in the popup menu, select "Number", then change "Decimal places" to 6.

Yes.

Prev. Post Re Pasting in TSYS

Hi Don,

Sorry to be a pest.

Formatted column of freq's for 5 places (also tried 6), but won't allow me to Paste
any frequencies there fro Excel, or from Clipboard either.

Thoughts ?

Anyone else have this problem, or, just me, as is often the case ?

Best regards and thanks,
Bob

I've tried it here several times, and it seems to work fine.

Could you copy/paste from Excel into a post here? Maybe there's something strange with the data?

From BOBRR: Pasting Problem

Hi Don,

Thanks for such responsiveness, and all the help.
As I mentioned, won't work from a copy and paste via the Clip Trak Clipboard that I use a lot either.

Here's a Paste directly from Excel ('97 version, believe it or not).
Seem to work O.K. ?
