Does anyone know what Troy's plan is once the county starts their migration? Are they keeping their own P25 system or will they move over to the county system? Doesn't seem like they have done much with it in several years.
The school districts are on the p25 system so I'm sure that they are keeping the system. As for pd they will have a patch or link to the county system as far as the fire side the department will more than likely stay on uhf unless forced to switch over.

TG 401 is County Highway. Associated RIDS heard: 7612, 7620, 7623 so far.

RID 7908 appears to belong to ECC.

On the TG identified as "Saratoga County Fire Interop" I heard testing with an Engine 54 w/no RID (patched?) and RIDs 3509 and 3511 looking for interference around a smoke tower.

Pager testing heard on 158.865 with 131.8 Hz CTCSS.

That looks to be the old input for 155.655...did you hear the paging on .655 at the same time? Because 158.865 is not licensed for anything except control stations and mobiles.

I can't receive .655 in Rensselaer. I probably got the input because it's at the jail, which is line of sight to me. Paging through a repeater was unexpected.

TG 1000 is Fire Dispatch
TG 1002 is Dispatch 2
TG 1007 is Alert Channel (I believe this is the Announcement Group)

Those were confirmed by some testing I heard the other day where the channel name was given. The following I believe are correct but haven't confirmed yet...

TG 1001 EMS Dispatch
TG 1004 East Greenbush Dispatch
TG 1009 Emergency Button Activation

Can confirm 1009 is Emergency Activation TG. Heard them testing that a while back and that was all on TG 1009.

The above listing does not make sense. Why have two or three different talkgroups for the same users? I can see where zoned radios might have different assortments of common talkgroups, but using actually different TGIDs means that the units will not be able to talk to each other without patching/multiselecting, which defeats the purpose of having multiple talkgroups if it's done all the time.

I have been watching and recording the system all week. The only TAC talkgroups observed have been in what, in the above listing, would probably be considered to be "Zone 1" - 101 through 110.

Dave,

Hope this helps you understand a little bit easier as to how the system is laid out. I understand where your coming from and I read this and was still confused but made a little more sense. ***See Attachment***

I see they are setting up for the same problems they already have with the old MultiNet system.

A gazillion talkgroups but only a handful of actual radio channels. Up to 5 talkgroups allowed for any single incident, which means one incident will tie up nearly the entire system.

Evidently the primary classifications of the system's talkgroups this time will be functional rather than geographic, but the physical limitations will be the same.

Maybe someone from Rensselaer County should watch and listen to the existing system during a working fire.

5 channels = 5 active talkgroups

TG1 - Dispatcher transmitting alerts for the incident, other incidents and mutual aid.
TG2 - Another dispatcher talking to responding units.
TG3 - Fire officer calling dispatch repeatedly.
TG4 - EMS unit calling dispatch repeatedly.
TG5 - Maybe units responding to a different call, or maybe Highway units are getting some airtime.

I didn’t realize it was active yet. Is the info on RR accurate or are you all monitoring something else?

The system goes live on the 13th but we're monitoring it to get the fleet map accurate and accurate talk group info. Yes the info in the database has been confirmed.

My Uniden 325P2 is not locking in on the new systems control channel south of Albany near Selkirk. I certainly hope it gets better when it goes live. If its anything like the Sheriff's new P25 frequency, we're out of luck. That comes in sporadically. E Greenbush's digital bombs in over here though. I did, however, hear a siren/pager test on 155.655. I couldn't see the PL quick enough. It was either 94.8 or 98.7.
