Hey does Unitrunker work on the 996xt? is it easy to set up? im right in the middle of the city, should be able to pick up the info to and help out
Since I don't own a 996XT, I can only provide general steps. Note that UniTrunker is used to analyze the system, it does not program your scanner.
1. Dowloand and install UniTrunker here:
Index of /download.
2. Connect your 996XT to your computer first.
3. Now, open UniTrunker you just installed.
4. Create a new receiver, select "Inline".
5. On the new window that pops up, select "996XT" under model.
6. Configure the serial port settings as necessary, make sure they match Device Manager in Windows.
7. Tune your 996XT to an active control channel and a new window should pop up.
8. Click the various tabs to see current activity on the system, system frequencies and which channels are marked as control channels, etc.
9. Use this table (
http://home.ica.net/~phoenix/wap/TRUNK88/Motorola Channel Numbers.txt) to convert from LCN to frequency. Remember to look at the rebanded column.
See how based on the control channel, it can automatically find all the voice frequencies in the system? This is why I keep saying you only need to program in the control channels and the scanner will do the rest. As long as you have the rebanded tables and necessary settings put in correctly, your scanner will do the rest. There really isn't a point to keep track of which voice frequencies are active. It is important to see which channels are marked as control channels so when they switch, we won't be left in silence.
