Listening to Wardensville tonight...

I received a report that indicates that site 1-048 Wardensville (Hardy) should be online. It has been added to the DB.

Site 1-026 (Romney) is listing it as a neighbor with a CC of 453.3625

Mike-
I had a some spare time tonight and was able to run Pro96 on that new Wardensville site you listed... hope it's helpful.

getting back into scanning

I live in the Woods development, west of Hedgesville. I have an older Uniden Home Patrol and have loaded it with information from RadioRef for Jefferson, Berkeley and Morgan counties. I'm just beginning to listen to SIRN but still using the rubber ducky and will be installing an exterior antenna shortly. Any tips about other freqs or sites that I should be aware of? Also beginning to understand digital trunking, as this HP-1 is new to me, coming from the analog world.

Any tips/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

It depends on what you are interested in listening to.

You should be able to receive the Martinsburg tower with no issue. Off that tower you should be able to listen to local EMS, FD, MPD, BCSO, JCSO, WVSP and anything else going through that tower.

Don't limit listening to only digital. WVSP (some), WV DOH, EMS and others are still analog.

Possible new Summersville area site

Here is a pending application for Summersville Regional Medical Center

- YG trunked license (typical of SIRN)
- P25 emissions (typical of SIRN)
- 6 freqs (typical of SIRN)
- site coordinates on Town Mountain Rd

Untypical of a hospital is a 6-channel P25 trunked site on-location. Very typical of another entity submitting for trunked frequencies for use on a site that is becoming a part of SIRN.

ULS Application - Industrial/Business Pool, Trunked - 0007909071 - SUMMERSVILLE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER - Locations Summary

Site location: https://goo.gl/maps/UqRtB852VbJ2

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest this will be a SIRN site.

There's talk down here that there will be a SIRN Site going on Lonetree Mtn which is off of Town Mtn Rd. I'll try to keep you informed when it goes online here. Don't know how long it will take but I've heard that the tower has already been put into place up there.

Chad,

Hope you're doing well! Thanks for the confirmation. I figured if it walked/talked like a duck, then it was probably a duck. I'm sure you'll be happy to have that additional site online in the area.

hancock and brooke counties

what is going on with hancock and brooke counties with sirn? I heard they tried to turn hancock county on but ran into issues. I know both counties have the radios already and have handed them out but I can't find the licenses from the beaver or weirton sites anywhere.
Also tonight it's eerily quiet up here. Usually weirton, hancock and brooke are pretty noisy but tonight I have only heard 2 transmissions from weirton and none from hancock or brooke.

Hancock license is in FCC records, at least partially.

Beaver is using 400 mhz frequencies.

Until somebody in the area takes 5 minutes (or less) to scan for new contorl channels between 400-412 mhz or so, and 450-465 mhz, one might never know.

And they could conceivably add the Weirton (McKims Ridge) site as another site in the Ohio County Simulcast cell. If they do that, you'd all have fun with that one. I doubt they would, BUT one of the Ohio County Commission SIRN licenses indeed does show that the Weirton site is licensed for all of the same frequencies as the Ohio Co Simulcast. That would be one helluva ugly mess if you ask me, spreading out a simulcast across 3-4 counties. But ya never know.

Otherwise, likely when Weirton/Beaver are online they will live on 400-410, 450-455, 460-465. So do some legwork.

Well all I know is that weirton and Beaver will not be part of the ohio County site doe to the chance ov overload. Also I have been scanning all the 400-480 and have not heard a damn thing.

FiremanTom informed me that the updated meeting minutes for SIRN for the past couple of months is on their site.

1. The Weirton site equipment is being moved to Lonetree Mtn (Nicholas Co) for the new Summersville site.

the equipment might already be there. that was announced in 8/2017 meeting minutes. Also in hte minutes it was noted that mIcrowave connectivity was already established to that site.

Chad will be happy to know that the new site is nearing completion.

2. Given #1, there isn't a snowballs chance in hades that anybody should expect to see a Weirton site online any time soon.

Mike

So Chad will be hap

i bet you they are giving up on the weirton site and are going to somehow use the beaver and west liberty sites to cover hancock and brooke counties.
you don't move equipment from a site twice and put it back a third time.

No way Beaver and West Liberty can handle coverage for Brooke county. I am not not sure how Beaver is going to handle Hancock County.

Sandyville site ?

In one of the SIRN SIEC Minutes documents it mentions that "Sandyville" needs more frequencies.

I'm not aware of a site called Sandyville. Sandyville seems to be between two existing sites, Ripley and Rockport. I'm wondering if Sandyville is just another name for one of those two sites, or whether there is actually a new [not documented] site in Sandyville.

If you live down by Ripley or Rockport and can run a trunking program (like Unitrunker or Proscan or DSDPlus) on one of those two sites, and then fetch the neighbor/peer site list with frequencies, that would be greatly appreciated. That would allow us to determine if there is a new site down that way, or if Sandyville is just another name for one of those sites.

Sandyville is about 5 mi from Ripley and 11 mi from Rockport.

Thanks

mike
