That's right and now more bad news!

The FCC has now frozen all pending applications 470-512

MissionCritical Communications, Radio Resource International, and Public Safety Report - wireless voice and data communications for mobile, remote and public safety operations

What this means is that the Somerset County pending applications with the FCC to permit for the conversion to and the expansion of the 9600 has been effectively stopped.

This is a major impact to all the time money and effort that has been spent.

This is a train wreck of major proportion.

I saw that report today, too; the only thing I could think of was, "......f**k!"

Bernards

Whats going on with Bernards? They are still being dispatched on the old VHF channel. Is that going to change? When? I heard they would be grouped with Peapack/Gladstone, Bedminster and Far Hills on PD North but not yet?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (BlackBerry; U; BlackBerry 9930; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.11+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.1.0.402 Mobile Safari/534.11+)

They are still being dispatched alone on their current VHF channel.

I heard that county lent them some trunking radios to test coverage in the town, because there are audio issues on the existing channel at the console end.

That change was made last week, and all but a few remaining cadets are now on the P25 side of the system.

Noticing right now that the Branchburg cars are talking on talkgroup 719... Initially was confused about this, but I have a theory: seems like they may be realigning all the talkgroups to be sequential rather than "all over the place."

WHICH, leads me to think that this is the planned setup:

701: PD All Call / Fleet Call
703: PD Region 1
705: PD Ops 1
707: PD Region 2
709: PD Ops 2
711: PD Region 3
713: PD Ops 3
715: PD Region 4
717: PD Ops 4
719: PD Region 5
721: PD Ops 5
723: PD Region 6
725: PD Ops 6
727: PD Region 7
729: PD Ops 7
731: PD Region 8
733: PD Ops 8

(They seem to reserve all the "even" talkgroups for whatever reason, I'm assuming non-county dispatched agencies, e.g. Franklin Twp).

Just a hunch.

No, Branchburg is still on 723. The stuff on 719 definitely sounds like cell-phone enforcement/safe corridor activities.

I'll keep an ear on them for the rest of the evening...

EDIT - the talkgroups are not 'all over the place', one of the other guys here noticed that they are exactly the same talkgroup on both systems if you read them out as hex (which is how they would at county - we scanner users don't realize that the rest of the world doesn't see things in decimal!). :D

Yeah, I'm hearing them back on 723 now. Normally, that safe corridor activity was heard on 725 (at least for me). It sounds like for a short period of time that County was answering back on 719, so perhaps it was just a very temporary thing.

And that was me who pointed out the hex relationship, haha. What I meant by "all over the place" was not in sequential order. I have noticed that it seems each region is only getting one ops channel (much like how I outlined prior). This makes sense because that way a bank in a portable can be programmed with 8 Regions and 8 Ops to fill all 16 slots. But, again, this is just preliminary observation.

Oops, I forgot that was you!

719 is PD CENTRAL OPS 2, and they were actually operating in analog on the main system. What we heard was a simulcast.

I could swear I heard the Branchburg officers 'playing around' now and then on that talkgroup weeks before they migrated...

PD Region 1 (former North) has been frequent on the P25 system (TGID 703). I suppose we should add that to the database now(?)

Also, the two Ops 1 channels we have currently listed for PD Regions 5 & 6 (724 & 728) don't actually seem to be right. 725 seems to be Region 5 Ops 1 and 729 seems to be Region 6 Ops 1; no idea what either Ops 2's might be, but a few Raritan cars were definitely referring to 729 as Ops 1. Additionally, I have yet to see 724 or 728 come up at all. It seems they're sticking to odd-numbered talkgroups as they have in the past, so that would make sense.

Looks like Bernards PD (200-cars) went up on PD Region 1 full-time this morning. And PD Region 1 is definitely active on the P25 TRS.

On a side note, TG 3405 (congruent to Prosecutors Ch 12) has been very active this afternoon on the P25 TRS, albeit encrypted.

I knew that was going to happen sooner or later, because there were some major audio problems at county using their VHF repeater. The strange part was that no one in the field heard the issues (BTPD brass was brought in to hear it for themselves).

Bernards PD did not make a full time move. It is just a trial. Only half of the patrol shift is trying it out. They are considering the move but have $$$ worries with the pending 700 mhz mandate.

Also a good possibility that they moved them off VHF temporarily to fix the audio problem...

Anybody notice TGID 10384 on the current TRS?

Sounds like BOE operations of some sort... not so exciting, lol. Talking about weather and stuff... Perhaps it's related to this event drill in I'm hearing in Hillsborough (I believe at the Auten Road School).

Anyone having success monitoring the P25 system on a regular basis? I have some issues with the settings and am missing parts of conversations etc...the files here (on RR) match mine, but something just still isn't right...I suspect the APCO Band Plan has something to do with it.
