Sangean has stopped production of SW radios -- news that has not really gotten out yet, but there you go.
The 909X2 is a beautiful radio hobbled by the low volume LSB issue, and lack of sensitivity on the whip. A
portable radio should perform fully on its whip antenna and compared to Tecsun offerings, the 909X2 just
doesn't get the prize, though it's fine if you augment it with a wire antenna.
Where have you heard that Sangean is stopping production of the SW radios? The 909X2 and ATS405 are still shown on the US Sangean website.

They have reduced the number of models from what they offered in the 2010's, that much is true. I think in 2012 there were maybe 3-4 SW models (909X, ATS-505, and maybe the ATS-404, and possibly another model). Now there are just the two SW models shown on their website.

This is consistent with the “legacy” radio industry. The old established names have all been moving away from making radios. The resulting void has been filled by the likes of Tecsun, XHData/Sihuadon/Radiow, Retekess…

Old stock being drawn down -- but no further production of 909X2 etc I can't divulge my
source
Well, you must have a very good source because I haven't seen any such news anywhere else, even after several searches on more than one search engine.

Not trying to knock your assertion, but it's just curious, and that's why I asked where you heard it.
