• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Analog trunking is dead sir. No system parts have been available from the manufacturer for many years. If your jurisdiction is still using analog trunking, paging should be the least of your concerns. But since you also mention P25 CAI that means they've at least made it to 1997 technology.

The idea was to monitor the Provincial Police... but if that's not possible, that's fine, it means I won't miss any Fire Department transmissions!

I am really loving the G5, and everyone that sees it loves it too!

Well done Unication, well done! :)

Downloaded the new firmware. Now not hearing any audio when a voice call appears. On the screen it appears the audio picture has an X beside it. Any idea what is causing this to be muted? Didn't have the issue before.

I know we are only days into 2018, and we’ve seen some blips on the Taiwan web site about phase 2 working, but has anyone heard anything new or a status on how the beta is going? We are days away from going live on our counties phase 2 system and I’m hoping not to be left in radio silence for too long

Memphis is a prime example of such a system

Confirmed. You have to change the setting in every knob position and every zone. Audio is back.

I started having the 'muted' volume yesterday after adding a new zone as I prepare for a road trip. I checked each of my zone/channel settings and I did have a couple that were set to 'silent'. I changed them to 'tone' and reinstalled the profile.

What I find interesting though is those channels that were set to 'silent' were that way before I made the changes today and my G5 was working fine.

I have done the most recent (Jan 2018) firmware and PPS upgrades. No problem after the upgrade (other than having to turn the 'record' feature off on every zone/channel).

The PPS is the V0.3.10 Beta 07 and the firmware is V0.93-0.17K-R02.

With the new firmware/PPS, in the D5 I have set the 'Voice Storage:" off (disabled). Voice buffering is a mix of 'enable', 'disable', and greyed out as an option. The 'push to listen' was also a mix of on and off. I have set them all off as I do not record transmissions.

So right now, with "Voice Storage:" unchecked, "voice buffering" set to what ever it was, 'Push to listen' set off, and 'alert tone' set to 'tone'. I am getting some channels with audio, the ones I listen to most are still muted. :(

Regarding my post #331, I THINK I may have found my problem. Another somehow 'self inflicted' issue (though how the setting got that way I don't know).

I missed setting one channel (naturally the one I'd been monitoring) 'push to listen' from 'on' to 'off'. Amazing how things suddenly work when you do it right. Though I had not (to my knowledge) changed that setting in any of my edits. :(

I have proven to myself, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that settings sometimes randomly change on their own....well, let's say after making changes to OTHER items and then reprogramming the G4. Something even weirder, was when a zone was muted though the settings clearly didn't call for this. After confirming that all settings were correct, and then re-uploading the SAME program to the G4, all was well...no changes made by me. I'm finding the G4 does for sure have some quirks....or maybe it's more the software, or maybe it's both, not sure. But for sure, strange things can and do happen, that are not programming errors....at least they do in my situation. The first few days I blamed myself because I know I probably caused most or all of the issues, but now I can see that odd things can happen without user input. Not complaining at all, as I feel PPS and the G4/5 are somewhat beta-testing at this point...and I'm happy to play along. Very happy overall...

Thanks.

Any insider info if we will be waiting till the end of next month for phase 2... I’m dying lol

I wouldn't hold my breath on an early release. They said Q1 of 2018 and I fully expect them to run the release down to the wire.

What's worse is I also expect an email any day know letting me know that Unication only shipped out a limited number of Phase 2 G4/G5's to their dealers and that it will be several months before they can clear the backlog of outstanding orders.

To expect anything else is (insert your preferred observation on Unication here).

I think they will also run it right till the end of next month, as for shipping a limited number, I believe all the dealers have to do is upgrade the current G4/5s they have in their inventory
