Due to continuing equipment failures I haven't monitored the system in some time, but to my understanding SO and FD have been using it.
Thanks.. I wonder when they will pull the switch on the VHF system?

Sorry to hear about your equipment failures.

I had a conversation with Sheriff Fryhoff today and asked him about the system. From what I understand it has been quite and undertaking and they still have work to do. HT's have been delivered but they still need to finish up infrastructure first.

I encouraged him to allow they main dispatch channels to stay in the clear as many people listen to stay informed and up to date with what is currently happening in their community in real time. He is a very intelligent leader and I believe is very willing to listen to all sides. I would suggest if anyone here has the desire to be able to continue to listen to reach out to him .

I had a similar conversation with Sherrif Fryoff at an event at the Camarillo Airport late last year. I asked him about having dispatch available to listen to, and he said he believed it was important for the community to be able to know what is happening, keeping in mind clearance and special ops would be encrypted.

I monitor the 4 sites that are active, but don't hear anything constant. I run my BCT15X and hear all the analog for both VCSO and VNCF. I have my BCD992P2 I only hear fire dispatch and no tacs, and VCSO West dispatch but again not all the time. Some days VCSO is on and other days Fire, but rarely both on the same day.

Looks like fire isn't fully committed to the new 700mhz system just yet and S.O. is going with all band APX Next radios.

I had a conversation with Ventura County Fire Chief Gardner this week at an event, and he says they plan on staying with their current vhf system. While testing is continuing since most fire fighters have the new APX 8000 which are both vhf and 700, I have heard little radio traffic on the 4 towers that are in operation. The current vhf system works well for them, and since neighboring counties to the north still use vhf as does Cal Fire and Air Ops. Even though LA County Fire and LA City Fire operate on UHF, all their rigs have vhf radios in them as well, it makes communicating with incoming units at a brush fire easier. Will see what happens when all the towers are up and operating, but what he says makes a lot of sense.

Activity today on talkgroups 500 and 502 decimal, in clear Phase 2, heard on Site 1.3. Radio IDs are 530xxx, which I haven't seen before. I don't have system voice monitoring capabilities so I know nothing further. This is also the first time in weeks I've tuned into the 700 MHz control channels.

New site 1.2 is on the air:
NAC: 962
WACN: BEE00
SysID: 962
RFSS: 1
Site ID: 2
CC: 774.21875
SCC: 769.09375
SCC: 770.29375
BSI: 769.08125 as WQYJ422

CQPSK/LSM modulation on the control channel. Easy to hear as simulcast reception here in Ventura is dominated by a single site. Not as strong as sites 3 or 4, by 20 dB and 10 dB respectively. No neighbors reported.

Hello All,
I received a PM stating the information in the Db for this system is outdated/wrong.
If anyone has the correct information regarding sites, frequencies and talkgroups, kindly submit them, and we will work to get the Db updated.
Thank you
