Continuing from this thread (VIPER usage by localities) if anyone knows how to make a wiki page, I have a starter list for my local area and areas I have traveled to that I can send to you. I just don't know how to start a whole new wiki page. This way there is a centralized list for us to know what counties are using what mode of traffic

Cannot get into WIKI due to computer issue. So, if someone can update the info I am including it would be great. Columbus Co is on with VIPER as of Novermber. Forsyth County is in process of beginning to update their existing system to a compliant system More info as bids are approved, VIPER allocations but no usage at this point. New Hanover has a standalone system for all services and works well. No info on update at this point from radio shop folks. Person County is using system for many services, have not offically confirmed with former co workers.

Well i have monitored multi NCDOC State Wide TGs to night they are using them much more now it appears

Haven't noticed the increase, seems like it comes and goes, especially during bad weather, disturbances or increased parole officer activity which had slowed during the height of the pandemic.

Take your pick, staffing shortages due to holidays, illness or other assorted reasons effecting dispatch centers around the country.

I hear the Sheriff's office on there Mutual Aid talk group frequently. sounds like surveillance of mostly drug offenders.

Hello I have a question in western North Carolina preferably Cherokee County area Erlanger life-force based at Andrew's Murphy Airport is it dispatched on the viper or not

They are called by Cherokee County by phone. They tune to the local fire channel and communicate with the LZ commander on approach. Never heard them using VIPER.

I hear local EMS using VIPER to talk with EWC on this talk group:

Thanks also with life force I was going to ask if their dispatch out of Chattanooga came up on the viper to dispatch life force 6 or if they had a separate dispatch frequency in Cherokee County to talk with Chattanooga

Is there a tower on the west side of Cherokee County say around Hiawassee dam fd fire district with the viper on it I can't pick up the sites close to Murphy if there is what's the control channels

No tower in the west. I'm told by Cherokee County Fire personell that no coverage in the western part of the county prevents them from using VIPER.

I have never heard any Life Force traffic on the Murphy site.

I will not be in the area anytime soon, but the Carolina Beach site does not indicate a control channel in the database. I am programming all the Viper sites with CC only so that if I am using GPS and a site is not in range or is marginal it does not slow down scanning.

I think the Rocky Top site at the NC/GA line north of Blairsville (Union County) GA is probably the furthest west. It's about 2 mi. east of US-19/129 if you look for it on a map. You might be able to hear that over in Tellico. Good luck.
