I am just seeing this thread, been inactive for awhile what is wake county transferring over to Phase 1 or Phase 2 P25?

Wake county switched to P25 Phase 1 on October 27 2021, it is now on the Cary Core, but separate from the Cary system, and it is now listed under the Cary/Wake system in the database.

After re-aiming the Yagi I've had some good progress! While it's still not where I want it, I'm getting decent audio now. Clicks and pops but I can follow some conversations. Decode rate bounces around from 80-98%. Here's the approximate orientation:



What really helped was directly connecting the scanner to the antenna in the attic, and slowly sweeping in the direction of my target tower by-hand. Then locking it in to position. Once I felt good about my aim I hooked the scanner back up in its typical spot downstairs.

I'm glad tower 3 is working this well, because that's also a VIPER tower. I'm getting perfect decodes from that VIPER site, as well as from the Wake North Durant Rd site.

Might end up getting on SDR and splitting this antenna to that and the scanner: SDR for Wake P25 and the PSR500 for VIPER. I'll keep playing with this for now though, to see if I can eek out that last 5-10% decode rate!

If you are wanting an RTL-SDR for the Wake system, you will need to get two of them because they only cover a 2.4 mhz frequency range. The Wake county frequency range is 4.425 mhz.

I have been inactive for quite some time. I updated my library on my ws-1080 (pro-668) and still not hearing raleigh pd? any thoughts? I live in morrisville top of the hill chapel hill road and morrisville parkway? I am very confused as to what I need to do to make my scanner work again.

If I remember correctly, there was a change where RPD moved to Cary/Wake Simulcast. When I updated my programming, I think I eliminated all the Cary-related talk groups, and possibly the Cary-related frequencies from the list. Experiment with those variables and see what happens.

Yes, import twice, cut and trim twice if you want both Cary and Raleigh systems. I only have the one for Raleigh.

In the trunked Radio System tab select the system (Click on it so it is highlighted), select DUPLICATE button on the right. Go to the first system lockout Site 2, Go to the second system and lockout Site 1.

After speaking with a knowledgeable person within the RFD/Wake EMS, they informed me the encrypted Raleigh Fire and Wake EMS talkgroups were added when the new P25 system came online due to issues encountered a few years back during protests downtown Raleigh. These TGs are apparently full time encrypted and used mainly for special events involving EMS or Fire. Wake EMS TGs include 46971, 46975, 49776 and 46977, while the RFD TGs are 47027, 47028 and 47028. These have been submitted to RR database.

Thank goodness they aren’t encrypting mains right now. I fully understand having encryption available, but for Fire it makes sense to only use it on an as-needed basis.

I updated my database and my list on the scanner, but so far I am not getting any transmissions.
Do I need to update anything else?

I deleted the old stuff in the list and added the towns of holly springs and fuquay Varina from the p25 cary/wake tab.

Make sure you have it entered as two separate systems one for Cary and only use site one, the other for Wake Co and use only site two.

Sounds like the Cary/Wake P25 system is testing new dispatch radio IDs on RFD Batt 4 TG 46954 today. There is simulcast broadcasts from various TGs, both RPD and Fire/EMS using new dispatch RIDs.
