Can saved scan list files for the 436 be directly written to the SDS 100, or does a new list need to be made? I know the ones for the 436 and 536 were interchangeable.

Thanks. I'm up and running. As I said I'm completely new to uniden entirely including their scanners. What should I read up on before I get it?

Can I use the auto locate feature without an antenna?

No - it uses reception of P25 systems to determine location, usually zipcode is closer - or manually enter your lat/lon.

GPS and Auto Locate are two completely different methods that use completely different technology. If you have a GPS, you really have no reason to ever use Auto Locate. I've used Auto Locate when I go to another city and don't know the local zip code (and am too lazy to ask Google).

How do I properly update the firmware without corrupting the scanner? I read your suppose to, download the update,it writes to scanner, you disconnect the scanner from windows via safely remove hardware,THEN while leaving it plugged in I turn the scanner back on and it updates automatically? Does this sound correct?

Read the PC screen prompts. Basically what you said, but it tells you what to do.
