Starting the list early this year!

Bergen County NJ
opening between approx 10:20 and 11:30

37.040 127.3 Smyth County VA Sheriff
42.940 173.8 Either NC or MO, open mic received for about 2:30 seconds
46.080 151.4 Bartow County GA Fire Disp (The EARLIEST I've ever heard this station. usually only hear it on the hottest of summer days.)

I started using ProScan about a month ago after a coworker showed me how to use it. Now I can "Set it and forget it" and come home at the end of the day and see my logs! Saves a ton of time.

Bartow County is about to go live with a 700mhz Phase 2 System Feb 15th...the fact they've had low band this long is an anomaly down here as most everything is 700/800 mhz trunked or VHF high band for many many years...end of a low band era if they cut it off for sure.

Ideally warmer months like summer and spring, but occasionally I'll get a some hits during other parts of the year, like my previous post of some early February logs. last December MOHP was coming in for about 10 minutes and faded very fast.

I don't understand how you are doing this. Is it all skip? I live in Louisiana about 40 miles from Barksdale afb and I have never heard anything in the low band..

Yes it is skip... it is mostly prevalent in the summer months, but it can happen any time of year. I once hear a solid 30+ minute opening from here in NC into PA and MD. I was getting very strong signals on an indoor, tiny whip antenna and that was on Christmas Eve. The openings may be weak and only last for a few minutes or you may have stations coming in crystal-clear from several states away for hours. It's just a matter of catching the opening at the right time.

Back in the 1960s I was in Alexandria,LA at England AFB I use to hear VA State as well as a lot of counties in VA from my barracks with a square antenna along with Rapides Parish and Louisiana State on low band 39.50. When I returned home to Virginia I listened to La State police here on skip till the mid 1990s Joe Leonard wb4igu

In 1979 I lived in Port Arthur Texas and could hear Oregon State Police on a telescoping antenna on a four channel crystal scanner. They're were on 42.90 same as Texas DPS.

It's not much, but it's a start. The ten meter ham band was open to California from my location.
