According to UPS Tracking, my 436 was delivered to Uniden today.

Here's hoping for a quick turn-around and perfect repair !

Just got mine back a couple of weeks ago. About ten days including shipping, and no issues with the repair. Very pleased. Between the repair and the Firmware/NXDN update that came out a day before my radio returned, it's like having a brand new radio!

This is just the second time I've used Uniden repair, the first was a out of warranty repair on my '396, and both experiences were very positive.

rigestered for the repair campagain, possible mistakenly entered S/N, how to correct

Replace the "260" in your ESN in the scanner's info screen with the letter Z to get the serial number on the external tag.

For example: 37926038001234 = 379Z38001234

I registered for the repair campagain today and i now believe i might have messed up the S/N when i entered it, is there a way to correct this or not? And if not what can i do now? Also, how long to wait to recieve the email with my shipping label and insturctions? Checking my inbox frequently and still no second email from Uniden, any thoughts? Thanx! N9NRA

Question i just thought of now, it was posted on here somewhere in this thread that newer units didn`t have the RTC battery fail issue (the "clock not set" issue as i`m now calling it). Wondering now what newer units those are, as i still might snag another `436HP at Dayton for a backup to this one in case the repair thingy takes longer than expected. Thoughts? Thanx! N9NRA.

The repair campaign started in October of 2015. I suspect that the actual fix was in place on the manufacturing side sometime before that, certainly was in place by the time the repairs started. I purchased a second 436HP in November of 2016. From what I've seen noted, the scanners produced in 2016 do not appear to have the problem. The one I got was built in 2016 (the first one I have was bought when the model was first released, and did have the clock & display issues, which were fixed under the repair program, and no issues since return from repair).

Look at the serial #, specifically the first five characters. My second unit starts off 376Z6. The digit after the Z is the year of manufacture. So, if you find a unit with a six, or higher number in that slot, you should not need to worry about the clock issue.

Excellent info on the serial# and manufacturing date vs. issue resolution. Does this apply to the display issue as well? Mine was made in 2017 and I would like to keep the screen bright as it helps with the winter blues.

Auto adjust error, had me a thought on this.

Hey all, i was just thinking as i get ready to prep my `436HP to take it to the UPS store to have it packed & sent off to get the clock battery issue fixed, and i had this thought roamming around in my noggin re, the "auto adjust error" i`ve seen reported here, and that is this. What of the possibility that these units that are comming back with this error might have been damaged in transit between Uniden and the person that sent it? Know that this is NOT the fault of ether you the sender or Uniden, i have the feeling this might be from just plain ol` bad package handling. I was fortunate enough to be working at a warehouse for a kinda well known mail order sports goods seller (Footlocker.com), and in my time there i saw a LOT of sloppy package handling, workers just tossing packages, some with fragile stuff inside, into westpacs & shipping crates, other times they would throw `em like footballs into the trucks as well. Now, if that is happening during the transport of your scanner ether TO uniden of FROM, what ya think is gonna happen? I know this is just a wondering, but i got to thinkin` and after reading some of the posts about it i just had to wonder a smidgen. Yes i know this is just a guess, but given that i`ve worked in package handling for a while i know of some of the funny stuff that can, and does, happen when your (very expensive) `436HP or `536HP is on it`s way to the repair gurus at Uniden. In short, i`d bet it is tested when it comes off the workbench, it`s totally fine & good to go, but likely due to just plain ol` sloppy handling it gets damaged and you end up with a scanner that has that pesky auto adjust issue. Highly doubt it is bad packing.

It's something related to the board replacement not being completed correctly, not bad packing. Otherwise you'd see the same message when people drop their scanners.

Yeah i get that :). It was just a thought after reading posts from what seemed like a lot of people reporting this issue, And if it`s packed right your unit WILL survive the run to Uniden even with the sloppy handling :D. And hey, they`re doing this all for free too. Okay, now i can go and get mine ready for the trip to Uniden repair :). N9NRA

It was an isolated incident that affected units that left repair during a single week, last year.

It is NOT due to a mishap in shipping. .Uniden confirms it is a defect most probably with the replacement boards they were using as the replacement when doing clock repair

My 436 was sent back last thus day and is expected to be back at Uniden this Thursday the 19th to re-repair the Adjust Error and the display lamp brightness.

Ah okay. Now the question i have is are all these units comming back like this? Sent my unit in a few days ago and hoping i won`t hafta send it back to have it RE-repaired (fingers crossed anyway). Hoping i`m not one of the unlucky ones, almost feels like when me & my brother were at a casino once playing slots, only diff is with slots ya know if ya won or lost lol :D. N9NRA.

Well, that makes me feel a ton better :). I was thinkin` that this was a bit bigger than it was after reading all the posts about it. Great, now i can relax and wait till i get mine back. Oh BTW, i wanna say a big thanx to all of you guys that are doing these repairs, this has got to be a mess for y`all with all the units comming into the shop `cause of this issue with the clock battery. Thanx lots for all you guys do. N9NRA.

Mine is on the way back to me now. Tracking shows it to be delivered to me on the 26th.

On the tracking form it showed that my complaint was:
"WILL NOT HOLD TIME OR DATE" even though I complained about the time/date AND the Dim Display.

The "parts used" stated:
CONTROL BOARD MODIFICATION
REPAIR COMPLETE. F12J

I think they replaced the entire board so it fixed the Dim LED display as well. And should also have the "C1" capacitor installed.

I'll report back when I receive the scanner.

Thank you Uniden (And Paul) for standing behind your product like this.

The front circuit board (F12J) is always replaced, regardless of whether the complaint is about the display or the clock. So it doesn't really matter.

Thanks for that info Jon.

I appreciate it.

I am excited to get my scanner back. There has been a lot going in in my neighborhood and I have missed hearing the action.

I can hardly wait for the SDS100 to be released!
