TRX2 EZ SCAN SOFTWARE (Latest version). I am now receiving this message when I go to check on updates in EZ SCAN: "SOCKET ERROR 10060 CONNECTION TIMED OUT." Uninstalled EZ SCAN, reloaded, no effect. Anyone face this problem. Never happened before. Thank you all for any help you can give me.

I'm also getting this error. I suspect their online services are down.

Ron
Well, that is reassuring to say the least. Radio Reference has made no mention of this matter at all. I have been going nuts to find a solution! Thanks Ron.You have my e mail. If you find any info on RR services malfunction(s), please let me know.

It has the appearance of the ship is sinking...I sold my TRX-2 for very nice profit a couple weeks ago, as I have a lot of scanners and still have a ws-1080 that will need updates.

I was poking around the downloads section and you can download the database from whistler's website. I would guess you can unzip it into the DB folder on the SD card. Get the updates that way. Same goes for the firmware. Not as easy as using Ezscan but your not stuck.

The DB file Whistler has on their site is old. It's about a month old now.
Users wanting a DB that's up to date are SOL.
For users who have not updated in quite a while, the file @TAbirdman mentions is a good option to at least bring your DB up to 5/30/2024 which is the date of the DB file Whistler has for download.

Came in to say I've been having the same issues. I'm starting to wonder how long we have with DB updates. Started thinking about an SDS-100 because I think it'll perform better with the NJICS tower closest to me before this started.

I've been getting the same error too and read the other thread. I'm a little concerned when Whistler support might end for the database updates.

:( If Whistler isn't responding, should it be broadcasted widely that you may not get any warranty or database updates, & reference the various posts here about refurbs being less than 100%, the databases not being updated, & the perceived lack of stock in many locations. No reason to spend hard earned monies on a sunk ship if this is the case? JMHO :(

Did anyone get a reply from the email to the CEO?

OK, I've taken this up and just sent Mr. Hopkins an email asking for honest clarity on this issue, included a link to this discussion, and also offered my extensive network engineering experience for free to resolve the issue, if in fact this is a network issue (I'm now leaning toward the service has been deprecated in anticipation of something larger, but we'll see...it doesn't take a week to resolve a socket/server service issue, it takes hours at most).

Thanks for the lead. I'm not going to post my email to Mr. Hopkins here as of yet out of respect, and to give him an appropriate yet measured time to respond to it either in a reply, or in a post here. Either way, I will of course share my results with you all here if/when I receive a response.

Fingers crossed, now we wait....

Honest question, does anyone actually program their radios or does everyone just download the RR database?

I ask as I've never used the DB, and the library in my EZ-Scan is circa...2018? IDK if I updated it or it was a fresh install of the entire program with a new laptop or something.

Every time I've posted about a find here in the forums, inevitably one of the first responses is someone asking if I'm "going to submit it?". It took me a while, admittedly, to understand the reason behind that is the use of the downloaded DB as opposed to actually putting in the work to program.
