I use ad blockers…but I’m also a premium member.
The problem is staying logged in. It often seems I come in logged out. In fact I saw this ad blocker “wall” tonight before I saw this thread because I was logged out for some reason. My iPad seems to be the worst offender of this.
And at work I don’t login to RR ever (never mix personal accounts on a work PC). So even though I’m a Premium member, I’ll either be stuck with the ads or the “wall”.
I know why you are doing this…just saying it’s not always a clear cut case of a paying or non-paying user.

Remember when RR didn’t have ads? I’m sure the amount of premium subs cover site hosting. No matter what a site try’s to do I always get it ad free there is always a way around it.

I won't turn off my ad blocker, but I might buy a premium subscription. I go through cycles of reading posts on this site. Lately, I check it a couple of times a day. I don't currently do any scanning, so the preformatted frequency lists are of little use to me. I will say this is a better site than some others I have seen over the years.

I mainly value the experienced feedback from two people who post in this forum. Their contributions are significant for myself and others. As to the 120 members on my ignore list, not so much. I have paid in the past and also provide a feed for Broadcastify. If those two people leave, I am unsure of what value I will derive from the forum. Well, the moderating is fantastic. I already miss that elsewhere. Still, if the brain trust leaves that would not be good.

Also, as I broadcast a stream I am provided a Premium subscription which includes no ads…yet I still see one for Scannermaster at the top right on each page. I am not put off by it, but technically my viewing is not free of advertisement.

Hosting costs money, that’s for damn sure. Even if one owns and and manages the servers, connectivity and bandwidth need to be fed with money each month. Plus electricity, certificates, outside consulting, etc.

I hope things work out, but everything is temporary.

While the core information on this site is public, it takes money for the manpower, equipment and maintenance to codify it and put it into an easy-to-access format. To me, it's worth the 8¢ a day it costs. It's a bargain. Hell, I have to pay $2.50 for a nickel cup of coffee these days.

Yeah, YouTube has an ad-free plan, too. How much does it cost to maintain enough servers to probably cover a city block? This forum does provide a public service of sorts, but it's not non-profit.

one of the first ads that popped up without my ad blocker was an ad for an ad blocker shown below. No kidding.

I am also intimately aware of what ads and services we deliver to our customers

And while I am at it, Youtube has gotten almost unuseable because of the ads inserted frequently in content. Ad blockers won't work on those.
Has been unusable, they of course are timed and designed to be as annoying, inconvenient and downright maddening as humanly possible without getting you to swear them off and quit use - Hence your only choice is to pay $9.99 a month to use the service,

I can see both sides here but it sure strikes me as $$ grubbing, at least I have never seen it done in any other forum but no doubt, likely a trend to come if it is profitable.
I go in spurts here, have went literally years without viewing or posting, but have been on a scanner kick for a while. Not a power user and rarely if ever make use of the database, so outside of pure generosity, have no reason to pony up.

For sure possible to make a donation/subscription, I do it all the time with outfits and products I simply want to support.
I do have a nagging beef with some of the policies and actions of this admin,,, And from what I understand, it can barely be mentioned [as per the blazing top banner/warning that has been here for years] so I'll leave it shelved, but anyhow that prevents a donation for me.

Simply put, I value my privacy and will do whatever I need to do to keep it intact.
I used to be a premium subscriber and would prefer to still be, but since then life has turned hard for me I cannot afford the $2.50/day... Sorry!
By the way... the internet connection nor the electric I am using is not even mine or paid for by me.

So blantonl, I am dead serious about my privacy and ads will never ever allow me to keep my privacy. I feel really bad for you that you fail to see and appreciate that. But then that is the way the wool is being pulled over everybody's eyes about many things like this today... I just wish many, many more people like me finally get fed up with this sh*t and fight back!!! Very much like "right to repair" and "warranty" issues where manufacturers have bullied us into believing their lies even though there are laws are on the books against that sh*t, but many just cower like a dog with their tail between their legs and accept that bullsh*t as truth... As any law judge will tell you - ignorance is NOT a defense!!!

Youtube has gotten almost unuseable because of the ads

A bit of studying on the subject should teach you that you do not have to deal with anything but the videos you want to watch on YouTube... It's out there and it's easy to implement... FYI, Google owns YouTube so quit using Google to figure out how to do it as they have probably removed that from their algorithm... Matter of fact, quit using all Google products, period!!! I prefer Android phones (when I can afford such a luxury) and since Google owns Android, my Android phone has been de-Googled by Rob Braxman. Now there is a guy who tells you exactly how it is...

This coming from a guy who failed to promptly notify paying customers that thier personal and financial information may have been breached?
This coming from a guy who runs a website, whos product, scanner frequencies, is completely dependant upon it's users for that information?
This coming from a guy who proves, through his own posts, that he has no respect for his paying customers?
Uh, no thanks fella. I have reported you to the BBB, FCC, SEC. but not for asking people to turn off ad blockers.
You have to drop the attitude. Or not.
Any Lindsey defenders can keep streaming those feeds. you're making him a lot of money.
