Trunking uses 3600 baud data not NAC's. You could program all ICIS frequencies into a Motorola radio, and that radio would demodulate the analog and digital voice. But it would hear everything transmitted, not just those agencies you want.

OK, maybe I have gone mad but a question for the ICIS gurus.

Do say Burbank Fire, Burbank Police, BWP etc use a different NAC? If so could someone take a /\/\otorola Astro and just program the freqs of the system (not the control) with the NAC of the department they are interested in and let it scan. It would let you follow a trunk system without being on the trunk system just like a scanner but with the hearing of a
Motorola.

With me I am just interested in Verdugo, mostly Burbank Fire. Is that possible???

I keep hearing a TG not in the RR DB coming from Glendale Site cc482.1875

ID 33312

It's certainly Glendale Water and Power. Conversation is always basically the same Two guys going through a checklist and documentaion as they throw a series
of switches, like a pilot to co-pilot. It must be from an office to a remote location. Must be rather large or important as well because they are very careful to repeat every switch move within the steps they are following and to document the time each step is completed. The words switch and transformer are used repeatedly.

Listening to the old Red 1 on my digital scanner (470.2125) , There is a PD on it with P25. Also an Engine 25 and Verdugo on it. Both under P25.
Van Owen and Buena Vista are some streets being mentioned for PD Units going code 3.

Not on P25 there is some company talking about pickups from dispatch to units driving around, taxi co maybe?

This is all heard in the last 30 mins.

I heard some activity on the old red channels a couple weeks ago walking...I thought it was some skip from the Antelope Valley....perhaps they added the old Verdugo Freqs to the Glendale Cell.

Beverly Hills getting more switched over. I've been lstening for weeks getting very little.

Today I got TGID 36000 Blue 8 PD - Surveillance several times
but I must say it didn't sound like PD Surveillance.

470.1375
470.2125
470.2625
482.0875
482.1375
482.1875
482.2375
482.2875
482.3875
482.4875
482.5875
484.1875
484.2625

Alternate Custom Frequency Tables

Glendale 1

470.0125 base
12.5 step
380 offset

Glendale 2

I seem to be having this same problem with my PRO 96 but only when a transmission occurs on one of the 4 new freqs ... I've alway used 480.5000 base 12.5 step 380 offset but since the 4 new frerqs were added I am getting switched whenever a transmission occurs on one of the 4 new freqs, when a transmission occurs on one of the original 10 freqs there is no problem ... when I reprogrammed the table to 470.0125 base 12.5 step 380 offset the the 4 new freqs work but now when a transmission occurs on one of the original 10 freqs I would get switched ... so for the time being, to not miss any transmissions, I have 2 banks programmed with the GLendale site, one with the first table and one with the second table .... any suggestions on what might be the issue here?

I have NOT made any changes to my settings for the ICIS group and all is working well. I have noticed the 470.xxxx freqs showing up during transmissions on the Glendale and Montebello sites no matter who transmits-which I never noticed before. I've been reading about problems similar to what mikkut is experiencing and i'm wondering why my 96 & 2096 is not doing the same. I have all control channels only programmed into 1 bank, seperated by 1300.000 FM, using the multi-table option. Comments?

While on patrol this weekend in the Big Pines area (area 12) of the Angeles National Forest I noticed that Verdugo Fire came in VERY Clear on my Burbank ICIS system that is programmed into my scanner. (I always carry my scanner in the USFS rig when patrolling). Even at Vincent Gap and the Baden Powell trail head and down into Wrightwood the signal was very strong and clear. Upon returning home to Burbank I continued to receive a strong signal all the way to the 14 freeway and Sierra Hwy. The traffic then became more difficult to hear. However, I did not hear any Burbank Police traffic.

Does this mean that a Verdugo Engine was “associated” with the ICIS Cell in the Palmdale area or is it just “open” and rebroadcasting the traffic? If so, why was Burbank police traffic not heard? Would a BPD unit need to be in the area and “associated” with the Cell?

It was very cool to be in the Angeles National Forest “high country” and still be able to hear what was going on at home. Too bad I couldn’t hear the BPD traffic as well.

I am not sure if they are just rebroadcasting certain talkgroups up there or if people actually have handhelds listening at home. I guess you need someone with unitrunker running on that control channel to see if radios are affiliating with that site.

In other news, last week there was another agency testing out ICIS on TG39256. They were talking about how great it sounded from Ontario to Orange County...but I dont think they were able to connect from Riverside which was their plan (at least I didnt hear them)

According to a post on SoCalScan from a Glendale radio tech supervisor, the Red-1 talkgroup is set to always transmit from Hauser Peak, whether there's anyone affiliated with it or not.

Reading between the lines of his and the other Glendale/ICIS guy's postings, it sounds like only some of the fire TGs do that, (possibly only Red-1?). Police and other TGs apparently only transmit from sites when they've got someone affiliated. They don't give a reason, though they do say there is one :)
