On some of the KSP frequencies, I am getting what sounds like data.

Are they using"computer terminals" on these frequencies or am I receiving something else.

sounds like their status messaging buttons
they can push a button and send dispatch a message like 10-7, 10-8, signal 5 without having to actually say anything

the MDT system is on 800 mhz freqs

Ah yes, I think thats it, and I read that somewhere, but I forgot and I forgot.
But the Pro-106 has the great temp lockout, so it's not supper troublesome.

thanks for replying unitcharlie. well at first i thought i would get the uniden 996. than i found rr and started reading about the uniden 996 and gre 600. as of right now im leaning more toward the gre 600. what i have read the gre sounds like it will do better on the p25. i wish the gre display was little bigger. im open to any suggestions. the only scanner i have now is a uniden 340crs. i know it will take some practice no matter which one i buy.i plan to make a decision sometime in the next couple of weeks. thanks for any suggestions.

KSP Post 4 Re-programming Radios

I've been hearing the past few days, that Etown road troopers were given
appointments for reprogramming their radios. Anyone have ideas on the
reason behind this? New post communication channels in the offing?

I hope thats it... new channels, the worst could be the dreaded "E" (encryption)
Might just be related to the KVE merge, putting in channels or matching the channel numbers/assignments. for both cars/radios

This is the news release announcing the "merger" of KSP and KVE: Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement to become division of KSP... I have placed a list of the current KVE Post counties on the KSP Page to help with figuring out who is where, etc.... As additional "Official" information comes my way I'll post it here....
Since i don't have a digital scanner yet, are the 400mhz or the 800mhz freqs for voice? I get what sounds like data streams on my PRO-94 on all freqs. My area freqs are below:

I heard what sounded like encryption on ksp channel A london post last night sounded like rolling voice backwards like the aes des encryption audio sample
Now it would be good if they did encrypt at times of sort ops or other types of officer life threatening situations

No not static but you know when you turn the squelch on your scanner and it makes the noise... thats what it is and it goes on from anywhere from 1 second to 1 minute

Why are these listed for KSP post 4??

The first is a statewide freq and neither are A or B...

Let's see, my guess, 453.3000 is assigned to Post Four and is used (locally) at the fairgrounds. Any post trooper can be assigned to a special event there, and since KSP is digital, it has that capability. Not to mention mass causality incidents need that frequency. 453.9000 is also used locally and still looking for the NAC.
