Spent some time in Rowan County this morning... saw some friends out that way! Anyway, I monitored 453.90000 (KSP14A-2) which is the Ashland-Boyd County Transmitter with 196 NAC... the traffic was very much "B" Channel traffic... I didn't hear anything on 460.31250 (KSP14B-2) which is also the Ashland-Boyd County Transmitter and is listed as the "B" Channel.... are these freqs reversed in the data base?

I listen to Post 16 Henderson all the time and I can remember them having technical problems with their "b" channel where they had to move all dispatchs over to the "a" channel temporarily until they got it fixed. That might be what was going on in your case.

Post 14 (Ashland) uses 453.900 for 'bout all its traffic- dispatch & general chatter. We have soooooo much excitement going on in this corner of the state that one channel can pretty well cover it :D

KSP Post 16

Has anyone been able to hear traffic on the Cloverport tower for KSP Post 16 over the last couple of days? Post 4 has their antennas on the same tower and I hear them fine so it's not a problem with my scanner or my antenna. Just wondering if maybe the Post 16 transmitters (both A & B channels) somehow got delinked from the rest of their multicast system in their coverage area.

Please disregard the above post. I am now receiving transmissions from that particular tower again. Whatever the problem was it's fixed now.

At around 8:30 - 9:00 ET I heard an unidentified search and rescue team operating on KSP Post 7 Frequencies, but FM instead of digital. Mostly on the 460.1000 freq. but seemed to be multicast as well on others. Does anyone know who this might be. Monitoring in northern Owsley Co. tonight, so it must have come from the McKee or Old Landing transmitter sites.

Hey guys up in KY, just wanted to add that i'm getting strong comms from the Cumberland-Harlan County tower with the 453.900 N190 and the 460.0625 N191. I'm located in East TN Carter County. Sometimes I get you guys better than my own area!!

KSP RID/UID on XT Model Unidens

You can see the Radio Id's now if you set up a new system using P25 single freq type system. Use a 0 delay in order to hear both sides of the conversation.

Does anyone know when & why Post 2 Madisonville changed the A & B freq's around on the Morganfield transmitter? B used to be 460.1250 and I could receive it very good, but since changing to 453.2375 I get interference on that freg from Warrick County, Indiana's LTR system.

Hey all, in January I made a trip through KY on I-24 and was having a hard time getting reception of the KSP with my 396XT. I was using my 800mhz SMA antenna that works fine in Illinois but I figured I could at least pick up some KSP action. All I was getting was 1 bar and very little talk; do I need to get a specific antenna for my portable to receive KSP??? I am going through the same route in early April, hopefully I can hear something.

KSP is on UHF so an 800 MHz antenna is not going to work very well.

kib669 is correct. A uhf antenna or a good dual band vhf/uhf should yield better results.

Thats what I was thinking, I might as well get a UHF/VHF for Tennessee as well. I have one other question... In Illinois the ISP trunked 700mhz band needs 4-5 bars in order to RX clearly; while the 800mhz will work with 0 bars.

How well does the KSP conventional work with low signal strength?

Currently, I am hearing the KSP on 460.2375 MHz, in P25 mode loud and clear here in Michigan. Maybe someone can help locate, which Post I am hearing?

The patrol unit is out on Chloe Road by Walters Road, looking for a subject at a house. They said that the Sheriff had checked the girlfriend's house on Summit Drive, but her car was not at home. Any clue as to where this might be at in the Bluegrass State?

You can hear KSP in MICHIGAN? I am on the border with KY and barely pick up KSP Post 16 across the river....
