I was listening to the scanner this afternoon, and I heard a number of units calling post 4 (E-town) whose numbers were in the 4,000 series (or at least were 4 digit and had a 4 in front). Does anyone know who this might be? It's the first time I've heard that.

I'm not 100% certain but it could possibly be Vehicle Enforcement. They always say their heading to the scales and they seem to pull over alot of tractor trailers.maybe someone else can verify.

CVE will be broken down into regions. For instance, CVE Region 1 will be KSP Post 1, 2, and 16 area.

so which post will dispatch those areas or does frankfort still dispatch them

All post will dispatch CVE depending on what post area they are in, or working that day. If he is in Post 1 area, then he is dispatched by Post 1. If he crosses over to Post 2 area, then he is dispatched by Post 2, ect. Basically, they just have a big area they can work in, with multiple dispatches for there area. Frankfort isn't dispatching them anymore.

Kentucky Motor Vehicle Enforcement Officers are now the Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement; they will operate on the KSP Post freqs for their regions (I have heard a few CVE Officers in Regions 4 and 5 as they have moved from one KSP Post area to another, checking-in and -out with the respective dispatchers). They are 4XXX units, some KSP Posts will see a great increase in radio traffic due to this change. A number of factors led to the merger but officer safety is the big winner here as CVE now operates on the KSP System. There won't be as much traffic on 453.30000, it is temporarily a stop-gap to run their more specialized vehicle checks as KSP Dispatchers take on the added responsibility of learning how to do those specialized checks and use new software programs to facilitate those checks.

I have deleted the Motor Vehicle Agency page to reduce the amount of confusion with this change... as additional Official information comes my way it will posted, but what I have posted thus far seems to be the nugget of the change. There are now four Divisions within the Kentucky State Police Organizational Tree: Admin, Operations, Special Operations and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. Although there will be a reduction in the total force size due to retirements, etc, the former KVE Chain-of-Command remains fairly intact as the new CVE Division thus assuring continued aggressive Motor Vehicle Enforcement. In my opinion it appears to be a win for both organizations: KSP gains additional officers on the roads, CVE becomes a true law enforcement agency instead of bouncing from one identity to another as they are moved hither and yon.

These are the CVE Regions broken down by KSP Post and County:
CVE Region 1:
KSP Post 01-Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, and Trigg
KSP Post 02-Caldwell, Christian, Crittenden, Hopkins, Muhlenberg, Todd, and Webster
KSP Post 16-Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, and Union
CVE Region 2:
KSP Post 03-Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Simpson, and Warren
KSP Post 04-Breckenridge, Bullitt, Grayson, Hardin, Larue, Jefferson, Meade, and Nelson
KSP Post 15-Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington
CVE Region 3: :
KSP Post 05-Carroll, Gallatin, Henry, Oldham, Owen, and Trimble
KSP Post 06-Boone, Bourbon, Bracken, Campbell, Grant, Harrison, Kenton, Nicholas, Pendleton and Robertson
KSP Post 12-Anderson, Fayette, Franklin, Scott, Shelby, Spencer, and Woodford
CVE Region 4: :
KSP Post 10-Bell, Harlan, and Knox
KSP Post 11-Clay, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, and Whitley
CVE Region 5: :
KSP Post 7-Boyle, Clark, Estill, Garrard, Jackson, Jessamine, Lincoln, Lee, Madison, Mercer, and Owsley
KSP Post 8-Bath, Elliot, Fleming, Lewis, Mason, Menifee, Morgan, Montgomery, Powell, Rowan, and Wolfe
KSP Post 14-Boyd, Carter, Greenup, and Lawrence
CVE Region 6: KSP Post 09-Floyd, Johnson, Magoffin, Martin and Pike
KSP Post 13-Breathitt, Knott, Leslie, Letcher, and Perry

Hi bewybob and Andyssonopie, welcome to rr.com... Sorry.... didn't see your posts yesterday....
im going to be buying a digital scanner,to listen to ksp. so im wondering can i just program the clay city tower and hear everything from ksp post #8 or should i program each tower in ksp post #8 to hear everthing around me. thanks in advace
The short answer is yes, you can program just the Clay City tower and receive most of what is going on in KSP 8... but, just to be sure, I'd plug in the Morgan and Wolfe County sites as well.... what kind are you planning to buy?
Just wondering were they are dispatched from? I pick them up, but they are very weak very seldom do I hear a unit calling there base.
You should be able to hear them fairly well on the Franklin, Fayette, Owen or Shelby County towers.... Ironically, I receive KSP in Woodford County better on the Owen County Tower (453.81250-KSP12B-5/460.31250-KSP12A-5) than the others.... how do you have them programmed and what lind of scanner do you use?

I'd be happy to help either of you if I can....
