I spoke to a Fire Chief in Calcasieu today and was told that they have some radios already. He agreed to let me look at it and I will get the IDs from him. Could be a couple of weeks before I can meet with him though. Kinda busy.

That's great. In addition to whatever local groups you get, try to remember to get the parish interops (4 TGs per parish)

I am trying to nail down a lot of errors I have found in programming these radios. A lot of agencies have made numerous errors in programming, and it is causing some conflicts with t\other known TGs.

Thanks again,

Does anyone know if there are any plans for a tower in Acadia Parish? When on I-10 in that area there is a gap of a few miles near Crowley with poor coverage. A tower right next to Francis Drilling Fluids on the side of I-10 would be excellent.

The Acadia tower should be on now, or within the next few weeks, I would think.

EXXXXCELLENT. Do you know about where it's gonna be?

I really do not have any idea... just know one is being built there. Maybe I will extend my tower hunting that far next week...Or maybe you can go find it for me! (take a pic while you are at it!)

I also heard last week that a huge ramp-up in site activations are coming in the next 3 months... From what I was told, over twenty new sites will be added by November 1. If they are successful, I would be very impressed with this program. It seems the new administration is very serious about statewide communications and disaster prep...

You might also want to look at the "SIEC Presentation 7-16-08" Powerpoint on the same page. It has a slide showing what sites are operational and a map as well. It doesn't give site numbers though, still leaves us a little to figure out.

Wow! thanks for the link. That is a very informative document. It looks like most of the existing 800 sites in North LA will get 700 equipment in the next few months.

Look back at my post from May; as I said there, I don't know what tower that was coming from but it must have been some posted CCh or Alt CCh in the DB at that time. IOW, it could have been a posted alt CCh from somewhere else being used in that area as a primary.

I have a 996 scanner. When programming the LATIE 700 frequencies I notice that it does not take the complete frequency as it is listed in the database. For example if the frequency is 764.20625, it will not take the last digit (5). Every 700 frequency listed ends in a 5. Is there a setting problem on my scanner that is preventing this or is this normal for the programming of this particular scanner. After programmming the systems with the correct frequencies and without the 5 I am still able to hear everything. I am not sure if this actully makes a difference in the programming. Just want to make sure I am not doing something wrong. I want to make sure I get the full function of the 700 system.

The frequency resolution of the scanner is only to the 100 Hz level (not the 10 Hz) level. It will not make any difference in monitoring the LATIE system. The use of the newer 700 MHz frequencies (like 769.xxxxx) will cause you problems with the Unidens however. I have not heard any solutions for that as of yet. I believe the GRE models (500/600) have a firmware update to address this new problem.

Are you saying I need to change one way are the other for the 100 or 10 Hz setting not sure what the scanner is set to right now. I do have some of the frequencies programmed using 769.xxxx. I don't know if I am having any problems with them or not. Not that I can tell. Maybe I am not sure what to look for. Do you think Uniden will have a fix for this in the future for the 996 for the new freq. to work correctly?

I guess I wasn't too clear. The 396/996 do not program down to the 10 Hz level. So just put in the first 4 digits after the decimal. It will work.

As for the 769.xxxxx, yes I guess I should have said the ones above the 769 values that the radio will currently accept. For example, see the current CCh for the Port Allen (Site 113) which is 769.96875. That is not tuneable. Look back in the thread here around 7/21 or so.

Does anyone know where site 136 is. I am receiving it very well. I notice St. Martin S.O., EBRSO, and Terrobonne S.O. has been very active on this site.

Does anyone know when Troop A will be online, using the system? According to what I read from the 07/16/08 letter, Region 2 has received approval from Homeland Security.

While sitting at home in Lafayette Pro-96 Com gave me two new control channels. While monitoring Site 141, whose location is unkown, it gave me two neighbor sites that are not in the database but show up as active connected sites:

Site 153, 770.40625
Site 154, 769.16875

Just a little info for whoever wants to do some tower hunting. I could not receive a control channel on these from Lafayette. They just showed up a neighbor sites to 141. Maybe we need a tower location thread like the talkgroup id thread.

Due to some unexpected events, I could not go hunting this week. Perhaps next week will be better. Good info. Maybe you could let me know while you drive around town, if you get any one freq stronger in any particular direction :)

Sorry if this is redundant... but 16 pages of LATIE info to sort through!

Tourist question-
What LATIE sites should I program to monitor on I-10 from Mississippi to NO, and what sites are best for NO (French Quarter) area

Any 396T files anyone wants to share would be appreciated. PM me please to coordinate.

Thanks

For traveling in, you really will not get too much on the Slidell tower.

If you check the DB, you will need the info for the Pan Am site. You can alternately enter in North Simulcast if you do any traveling in the N.O. area.

The New Orleans talkgroups are listed. NOPD works the Quarter on DISP-1.
