ProScan Version 1.7 Build 2 includes the RadioReference Imports feature, improved Scanner Over IP, and bug fixes.

Supported scanners are the BCD996T, BC796D, BC785D, BC780XLT, BC296D, and the BC250D.

I'm thriving to make this the best Computer Aided Scanning program and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Bob, i LOVE this software. One feature request, and of course I don't even know if it's possible... but

I'd love to have the ability to import frequencies that show up in the "Unidentified FCC Licenses" report in the RR database, to a talkgroup. So that they're easier to import, and then identify for the DB.

New registered user on board here since last night and I just wanted to thank Bob for his efforts in developing such an awesome full featured program. Having been accustomed to using Freescan since I bought my 996XT back in early March, a fine program in itself but one in which I was quickly outgrowing in many areas, Proscan admittedly was very frustrating at first, mostly the import function was daunting at first but I quickly got used to it. What really pulled me in was the recording function and from that everything else fell into place for me and boom, I had to buy it.

Glad it's working out. I try to make it user friendly. Any hints on where it can be improved?

Thanks for the compliment. Can you provide a link so I know what you are referring to.

If there is one thing I can find to gripe about, it's that when importing from RR, why is everything all out of alphabetical order?

Are you referring to the names of the systems, groups, and channels? The data retrieved from RR is not sorted by design. There is a sort button in ProScan to sort anyway you want.

No, I'm referring to the imported list of sites and groups once fully downloaded, it's all over the place in no logical order. Also, you should make it so we can go back and forth between the import list and the database as we can in Freescan. If you can fix this somehow, then importing would be far easier to navigate otherwise I use Freescan for this purpose. I'd also like to see some sort of filtering system similar to Freescan's "My Skip Tags" and "Options" tabs.

I think we have to define a few of the terms. This way we are on the same page.

Import - Transfer of data from RadioReference to ProScan
Upload - Transfer of data from ProScan to scanner.
Download - Transfer of data from scanner to ProScan.

Is the data all over the place after importing or uploading to the scanner or downloading from the scanner?

[EDIT] If you are talking about uploading then the sort order is preserved and will download in the same order.

Ok well I'm referring to the "Database-Import-Radioreference Web" function, where once the chosen sites and groups are completely downloaded or transferred whatever you wish to call it, from RR, they are all out of alphabetical order, why is that specifically? In Freescan for instance, sites are in one window and groups are in the right window, both of which are all in alphabetical order. I'm not certain what "sort" button you're referring to though to handle this, can you elaborate?

The buttons above the data area in color red. 1st one is "Download From Scanner". 3rd from the right is the "Sort" button. After importing then can be sorted by SQK, Alphanumeric, system type, etc.

Right ok, I've seen and used that but I'm talking about the imported data once it's dowloaded from RR.

Once the data from RR is imported in to the database, then the database can be sorted. Some prefer to sort by SQK so they set that first then sort.

[EDIT] Pressing the "Retrieve Data" button on the RR Import window will retrieve and display the data as it arrives in same order. No sorting is performed by design at that time. Once the "Import" button is pressed then the data from the RR Window will import. At that time, you can sort..

Ok here goes:

The data arrives from RR that way. ProScan is not changing the order. What comes in first is displayed first.

If you have a request, an email is best so I can have all the request in one location and their is a higher probability of it getting done. I also ask more questions by email and send out pre-release files.

I'm just trying to find out what exactly is Freescan doing with the RR data that Proscan appears not to be doing in the way of alphabetizing?

Alright then, let me ask then what is Freescan doing that Proscan can't in the way of alphabetizing?

Probably sorting. ProScan next version will have it as soon as data is retrieved. Let me back up. ProScan sorts, it's done later in the process so existing systems will be sorted with the new.

Yep. I have another issue probably due to my audio settings but every time I start up, my recording doesn't auto start anymore until I tweak the mic settings, here are pics of what I have, let me know if it's an incorrect setting etc. thanks.

Update, well now it seems to be magically working again with the precise settings that I have set below, not sure why it kicks out of record though periodically.

Try it with the latest version. The problem was fixed a few versions back.

Bob, could you look into allowing us to work with the database while any importing is downloading? This would be very helpful in double check what we want to download without having to back out of import and go back, thanks.

The bug report and suggestion procedure is explained on the ProScan web site.
