I read with great interest an article published in April, 2018 issue of The Spectrum Monitor magazine regarding the introduction of the P25 TDMA mode Control Channel to the P25 Suite of Standards, and how it will benefit system/radio subscribers, along with more efficient use of the RF spectrum. I researched further details from the Project 25 Technology Interest Group, (see: http://www.project25.org/images/stories/ptig/White_Papers/P25_TDMA_Control_Channel_FINAL__170915.pdf) and have three questions (if they can be answered by those involved with a deeper knowledge of the issue):
1. How will this affect the current P25 radio line that have just FDMA Control Channel capability? Will a firmware and/or software upgrade address this issue in the future?
2. How will this affect current P25 scanners (even with Phase II voice channel capability), and will it need a software update or a firmware update?
3. Do any of the P25 manufacturers currently have any P25 TDMA Control Channel capable systems deployed yet, or is this technology too new at this point in time to be incorporated out in the field?
