I just arrived home from my chemotherapy session and saw the announcement about Paul.
It hit me hard. I'm battling stage 4 cancer myself. This was difficult to read.
Paul has been a very vocal source for the Uniden community here on RR.
His passing will create a great hole in providing support and sensibility to the scanner community.
He was a calming and reassuring voice.
May he be at great peace. My condolences to his family and friends.
Thanks Mr. Opitz and thanks for everything you did for Uniden and the RR forum family.
Eternal peace brother.

Cancer is indeed a very nasty curse. That is why I invest the few dollars each month I can spare to support St. Judes instead of sending it to any pols. I lost my brother back in 1999 from hepatic cancer, so am very familiar with the pain and suffering the final few months entail.

@JPSan, my prayers are for and with you as you fight your battle. Paul may be at rest now, but the battle for a cure continues.

Paul brought so much to us in the hobby, a knowledgeable and kind person. He will be truly missed.

If anyone is in the DFW area, there's a good discussion on Paul on 146.52 (Simplex). Lots of folks are there that worked with him, knew him, and even simply knew of him that are expressing their grief and telling stories of his life.

RIP Paul

Here is a link to the posting in the Uniden Tavern that shares a bit of information.
