Most public safety fiber installations are redundant for this exact reason. Not sure if Sacramento has geographically separate fiber runs or not, but if not they probably should. Some also use fiber and microwave for redundancy.

Redundancy is more prevalent in wider areas. In the case of this fiber problem, it appears to be below that threshold. It took manual intervention to re-route the signal locally. That was in place for some clients by mid-evening, and I understand the fiber was fixed after midnight. Traffic was then transitioned back to the original routes and tested.

Your results may vary, but I've used Manual, Threshold Level 7 for all sites with good results.

Also A Sac PD Tac Channel Question

I don't think I've ever heard the SPD "Tac" channels used, except when they were patched into other channels this summer for the protests. SPD is more likely to use SPD 2, 5, 7, or 8 for "Tac" incidents, or more likely move their patrol operations over to those channels and keep the main channel for tactical ops.

Thank You Sir Will Give Threshold Level 7 A Try :)

SPD was on CTAC 14 briefly early this morning.
Circa 07:30 I heard someone state the system was going to be down (for 1/2 hour). I really didn't pay attention for a bit, but later noticed that the Control Channel changed.

I had that this morning in roughly the same area, but it came back later in the afternoon.

The system used to come in with 50/60 DBm range, I had to use the Attenuator to deal with some minor overload. It now hovers around 70 to 90 DBm range on my SDS-200. I checked with my SDS-100 here in the house, and the system signal strength isn't what it was before Tuesday...

I've been told by a few different people that a system upgrade is currently happening, which is the cause of some of the recent events we've been noticing on here. These recent events are either pre-planned to happen or are temporary hiccups during the upgrade. We'll probably see some monitoring differences until the upgrade is finished.

Potentially going to P25 Phase 2? Or just some routine hardware upgrades?

I'm often at a friend's house who lives near 47th Ave & Hwy 99. I do all the programming for his monitoring setup, and yesterday I noticed that the old BC796D that scans hospital talkgroups was constantly losing the control channel and only had 1-2 bars of signal. My home monitoring station in midtown is unaffected.

There is an error in the database for Site 12. 851.3625 is supposed to be 851.325. I discovered this tonight when I noticed that my BCD436HP wasn't picking up trunking very well. I programmed all the Site 12 frequencies in conventional mode and noticed that 851.3625 never had any traffic. I put 851.325 back in (which used to be in the database but was replaced with 851.3625 for some reason), and I'm hearing traffic on that frequency.

I agree that the frequency should be 851.325 as per UniTrunker.
