How do we copy the existing FW onto the SD card? I am running the older FW and would like to save it. Or can we download older FW from the Uniden site?
Thanks

i use to take a copy off the sd card before updating my x36's but havent felt the need to do it now with my sds's
when updating the firmware after it copys the update, before you restart scanner the firmware file is in the firmware folder on scanner sd card
just copy it to your hard drive somewhere, after the scanner restarts the firmware file is gone from sdcard

So Mr. Paul (UP Man) Will you agree that there is a noticable, negative receiving issue with the newest firmware, and state it is going to be remedied?

I would appreciate it, as I am sure others would as well.

Thank you!

...it has nothing to do with the hum, screen flickering and desensitized VHF/UHF performance issues I continually read about here. Those issues are what is keeping me from buying an SDS200 for nearly $700. I am not willing to play that lottery. So, I don't think I am missing anything. I think, with all due respect, you are.

I agree, you're missing quite a bit because you are assuming that, because a problem is reported here, it must apply to every unit or individual circumstance. Reality doesn't support that conclusion. Some folks are reporting 1 or more issues, and some are saying they haven't experienced any of them. Par for the course. What's unquestionable is that Uniden is doing their level best to address any problems via firmware. This takes time. I remember when the naysayers claimed that the there were no further performance gains to be had from firmware tweaking, just months after the SDS100 was released.

Maybe I'm having a brain fart but..... did the last firmware upgrade make frequency searches (custom search, site scanning, conventional scanning) slow? It does the same thing on the beta.

Edit: The filter being on did it. Disregard!

This radio keeps getting better and better, though I think they should have put this last FW on Beta First

Good to know, thanks for the heads up on that

I haven't tested it on site filter mode versus global filter mode. I'll be doing that soon. But global filter on of any setting including auto slows frequency search/scanning to a crawl.

Global filter set to auto will slow down scanning or searching considerably. UPMan explained that when the filters were released.

That was posted by upman and is the nature of the beast with filters

I remember reading that Auto Global Filter slowed down scanning/searching; but I don't recall anything being said about the other settings. Can you point me to that post as I obviously have missed it and need to read up.

You are correct in this. UPMan said it would slow down those functions only in Auto mode.
I know he also mentioned this in a forum post but I could not find that.

You can see mention of this under the 1.07.00 firmware release notes which is the version filters were added.
See SDS100FirmwareUpdate < UnidenMan4 < TWiki for the release notes.

I never said nor assummed problems applied to every radio. Hence my lottery comment. I don't believe you understood what I wrote.

Location has a lot to do with it as well, as do antennas
