• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Not sure what's causing that but I plan to get to the bottom of it. If you're having this issue please contact me via email so I can try to diagnose it.

Hi Folks, Is there a master reset combination on the G5? My battery is sub charge in the charging unit and external wall wart USB charger.

Pull the battery and put it back in. Should be fixed in the new firmware release.

Holding the two side buttons and the top voice message button down for 3 seconds also reboots the unit completely

No need for emails... I prefer it on a thread that way others can get the "fix" or know the problems going on. Kind of how the folks of DSD + does its troubleshooting.

A quick explanation...All firmware must come from your dealers. It is Unication's policy that the dealer provides first-line support for the products. Therefore is was decides by senior management of the company that all firmware must come through the dealer network. We have provided the programming software and many tools and documents to assist you. Please contact your dealer for the firmware. The below link is for the PPS, Documents, and Tools for all areas except for Michigan (not currently approved by MPSCS). If you you do not have a dealer or would like a different dealer please contact me via email and i will set you up with one. I apologize for the inconvenience.

For Scanner Master I would go to their website and use their contact us option and just request the firmware.

No, but the firmware installer says it does validation on the update....

I've wasted enough time on this for now....

After taking a break and getting some dinner, I went back and installed the new PPS on my original laptop and did the firmware update from that machine as well.

At this point, my routine PPS converted profile seems to be working without crashes.

I'll let it run for a bit and provide another report later.

With the new firmware, my G5 works well and the bluetooth connection improved where I no longer hear random fuzzy audio. I'll continue to monitor the radio on my daily use and report back if any issues. So far no problems.

Well after hammering through 33 zones of my imported profile and changing the audio to tone it's now passing the audio.

From looking at the software, it looks like you could leave Tab 5 "Zone & Channel Setting" Audio to Silent and just go to Tab 4 "Group ID Setting" and change Alert Mode to "None" since that will default the talkgroup to silent. I'll be testing that later.

For those with multiple Group IDs (I have 675 in mine), this seems like a faster way rather than clicking through each knob position.

Channel selection seems to be quicker now where before things would bog down. Again, I have 33 zones, 28 systems and 675 talk groups in my G5 right now. I'll be running the hell out of it today to see how it performs.

One thing I did notice is I'm getting an occasional "P25T" display instead of the subscriber ID. I thought it may have to do with SmartX at first, but those IDs are displaying so so more testing.

Disregard. Does not work. Have to leave the audio as Tone.
