• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I lost my audio. I have to press the left button to hear anything, when I let go, the audio mutes. I didn't change a thing in the PPS.

Looking around to see what I can find.

Dennis

Go to D5 in PPS. Check each knob position "knob - function setting", down to "alert mode" and make sure it's set to "tone" rather than "silent".

Seems there may be a bug in PPS that changes the setting when your previous profile is imported.

Took me several hours to figure out.

Same. No audio unless I hold down the upper side button.

And all this waiting so they can get it right. I cant hear audio. I looked all thru the new PPS and couldn't find a setting that may fix this issue. I guess back to the old FW/PPS.

Official firmware G4/G5

I'm having the same NO AUDIO issue. It can't be fixed by changing or saving the On duty status. I've uploaded the profile and different ones too. The audio icon shows off with the X through it. Only pushing the button on the left enables audio for a second or two

I think I found the solution. On all of my channels in the zones, I had Alert Mode set to Silent. When I changed this to Tone, the audio is no longer muted.

Okayyyyyyy so now I'm REALLY confused!!!!

This combination firmware and software has been thoroughly tested prior to today's release. And now, users that did the upgrade are having "Crippling issues with the update"....

Did I miss something? Or am I smoking crack again? Don't answer that!

Back on topic.. Can Unication please, pretty please with a cherry on top... Post the firmware that is working? That way, we can revert back to a working one.

Yes, k3sls, thanks for the idea/fix. Audio is working now but for each square programmed in #5 on the PPS you have to change all the alert settings to "tone" :0\ I have ten Zones and 6 different profiles. Thanks Unication, the pager is more responsive showing talkgroups and scrolling menu too.

Yes…every knob position for a P25 system should be checked.

I'm taking a WAG here…I think when they added the P25 tone decode (binding mode and sub-group) capability to the TGIDs, they likely thought you would want this set to silent unless the tone decode was a match. But you wouldn't be adding tone decode to most TGIDs unless they are FD dispatch TGIDs. Probably an oversight by a coder and nobody fully tested. Again…just a WAG!

Changing the Alert mode on each knob position from Silent => Tone worked for me. I did notice my G4 crash on me and reboot after making this change (believe it was when I switched channels).

I ended up creating another fresh G4 profile using the new PPS. One of the things I noticed is the Talk Group Lists on the knob positions:

In the newly created profile they are display in the format of:
Code:
TAG + (TGID) + [S]

In the profile that was converted from the old PPS version they are in the format of:
Code:
TAG + (TGID) + [T:Default]

When running the "fresh" config I created with the new PPS the G4 has yet to crash now. I suspect some of the other reports of rebooting others have experienced might be related to profiles that got corrupt when PPS updated them.

Edited: used code tags to kill off emoji that didn't make me smile

Confirmed. You have to change the setting in every knob position and every zone. Audio is back.

I have 28 trunked systems and 33 zones in this thing. Jesus Christ Unication, you're killing me !

Initially, I applied the firmware update but left my previous PPS profile on the radio.

Later, I created a tiny NEW profile and applied it -- still crashes.

BTW - I'm using a different computer than my normal PPS laptop. This machine has never been used for Unication programming in the past. My original machine (software and profiles) remains untouched at this point.

Master Reset?

Hi Folks, Is there a master reset combination on the G5? My battery is sub charge in the charging unit and external wall wart USB charger.

Did you check in the settings on the device to see what firmware version you are using? (just incase the firmware update didn't take)

If everyone would just watch the Youtube video that I linked earlier you would already know that you are not to set the alert mode to silent I explained everything and how to set it up it is not just for setting up to tone it explains every change in the new software. I knew that there would be some confusion but I'm here to help anyway I can.

I watched the video... But I'm not seeing the part where the device reboots or crashes, as others have reported. Why does this happen?
