I gotta give props to Whistler. My TRX-2 manual got stolen from my car yesterday (well, that's when the theft was discovered - after I picked it up from service). They took all the manuals, including the TRX-2 manual. I know I can download/print a replacement, but that makes it too big for the glove box. Thinking I could buy a replacement, I called Whistler Customer Support and they offered to ship one out for free.

Nice going, Whistler! You are reawakening Customer Service from being a lost art.

:) Great story, lets hope it is an OEM manual and not a 'printed on paper' manual! :)

I am retired and I have been in the radio and scanner hobby since I was 13 years old. I really like the price you had for the TRX-1 and the TRX-2. Of course I bought my TRX-1 when it was on sale. Here is the only problem I have with the TRX-1 scanner, It takes to long for it to boot up, turn on. The last complaint I have and is major for me is the PLASTIC that you look through to see the information. IT SUCKS. It scratches easy which makes it even harder to view!! For the money we pay why don't you put real glass to look through. Last forever and cleans very well. I now the answer will be if the scanner is dropped glass will break. Well most my older scanners had glass and no protective case. Never broke any of them. So, I hope you keep making the TRX- 1 AND TRX-2 scanner's and please consider my advice. I am sure other's have the same complaint. I will buy WHISTLER over UNIDEN any day. UNIDEN price is way to high. They are pricing themselves off the market.

When I first got my WS1088 I thought wow this display really scratches easy so I broke out the Brasso to clean it up which only made it worse...then it finally dawned on me that I hadn't removed the protective film they had placed on it. I peeled that off and have not had any issues since, My WS1088 is about two years old and am on my first year of a TRX-1. Both displays are as clear as my SDS100.

Does Whistler still support the original GRE PSR-800 that has NOT BEEN converted to the WS-1080?

This past week there is a problem with the GRE EZ Scan software version 1.09 not being able to download the
weekly RR database updates. The Whistler EZ Scan works fine but the GRE EZ Scan no longer does.

Prior to last week both versions of the EZ Scan had been working flawlessly for RR database updates.

See attached file for the error. This happens every time I attempt to download the latest RR database
and then the GRE EZ Scan software locks up and can only be killed by using Windows Task Manager.

Is Whistler aware of this problem and do they still support the GRE version of the EZ Scan software?

:( This is the EXACT error I am getting on the PRO-668 update I tried to get for a friend. My post is
( iScan; Updt library, ISSUE: IOHandler value is not valid? ) in the RadioShack forum. I'll bet there are a few more to say the least! :(

Only the Whistler EZ Scan apps are supported.
I will take a quick look to see if there is anything that can be done but I cannot make any promise on the GRE and RS pc apps.

Give me a few days to see what I can learn.

Did you take off the shipping screen protector? Sometimes it is difficult to even see that it is on the screen, and it makes it appear the screen has scratches all over it.

Besides the improved performance, continuing support, and repair availability (if needed), this is just another good reason to get the Legacy Upgrade from Whistler. When my PRO668 came back I was amazed at how much better it worked.

Should be getting mine back this week. Can you elaborate on your specific 668, and what worked better, as specific as possible?
Thanks...And I'll do the same when I get mine back.

That was a while ago and I can't remember specifics, but battery seemed to be better and reception was improved, clearer audio. Plus the DMR added.

Seems their may be an issue between the old pc apps and the server.
The GRE and RadioShack apps are not supported however you can obtain an updated library using the Whistler Handheld PC app then transfer the DB files to your non supported pc app.

From the Whistler WS1080 PC App, run a library update.
Then go to your My Document > Whistler 1080 Digital > DB and copy the contents of this folder.
Replace the files in your GRE or Pro668 Digital DB folder with the files copied from the Whistler 1080 digital DB folder. Launch your GRE or RadioShack pc app and you will have the latest Library.

Keep in mind that the WS1080 library contains DMR systems however your GRE or RadioShack models do not support these objects. Details for an official DMR Upgrade program is available at whistlergroup.com/products/upgrade

I just received my GRE PSR-800 back from Whistler today. They replaced the logic board, upgraded it to receive DMR, and replaced the SD Card. It is working GREAT! Well, worth the $120 I spent! Also, a big thanks to "Brian" in customer service for his assistance!

Thanks for your quick investigation and response on this issue. I am not surprised, as I knew the older programs would fall by the wayside eventually. I actually do have one PSR-800 that Whistler converted to a WS-1080 so I guess it's now time to send in the other one!
On the bright side I can now safely delete these old programs from my pc and create more disk space!

Thanks again Whistler for your quick turn-around and support.
