There was an RFP put out for a comprehensive evaluation of 4 options a few months ago. for multiple city departments I don't think any other RFPs were put out or awarded. going to the state system was one of 4 options to be evaluated.

Source of the rumor, such as it may be? Please do tell.
The 2 NHPD officers I was with last week, But I didn't take their info as 100% so I did a little digging and found out one of the taller buildings in downtown New Haven was approached about the possibility of putting a state site there
So both of those together shows me that something is in the works

I did hear that CSP was looking for a site in Downtown New Haven, but I didn't hear anything about NHPD Or Yale PD
going to the system

That is very interesting. New Haven has good CLMRN reception. I have never experienced any signal related issues with my SDS100 anywhere in the city. Maybe they are planning something in the future. I know that this past weekend, at a Hamfest, I ran into a guy who works for Utility Communications which does a lot of their work. I was told nothing is in the works radio wise right now. The current priority is installing 500 street cameras at different intersections throughout the city, and making sure all police cruisers have front and rear facing cameras. So we will see I guess.......

You're solid with that info.

Getting hits on TG 20302 & 20306 with ids all in the 103XXXX range looks like norwalk but no voice yet

Unrelated, but signal seems to be much better from my office... not sure if the techs did something but this is the second day in a row I've gotten really excellent decodes from Southington/Plainville boarder

also what drives me crazy - from my house, which is in a RF black hole, the control channel for H is the worst received freq, the 774, but the voice channels in the 800 range come in much stronger.
I watch via SDRTrunk, voice channels around -26,-30dB, control channel -52dB.
at -55ish dB I start to see SDRTrunk messages show "CRC failed".
My setup isn't ideal, but gotta work with what I got.

I could use the Troop L site which comes in much stronger, but doesn't carry all the traffic I'm interested in.
Hoping that the new Avon tower will help, improve my received signal and still carry all the H site traffic.

What antenna are you using?
My P25RX often goes deaf and I can't figure out why. I have even sent it back twice. It checks out, but it goes deaf on the CLMRN system at times which is maddening.

You have to ditch the one it comes with, it sucks! I use an 800mhz 'Seeker' , I grabbed over ten years ago from a guy in NH. But you'd likely have similar luck with a plain old 800mhz remtronix!

If paired with a good antenna, I use an sma mount w/ bnc adapter for my 800mhz antenna, it should be good to go... depending on location of course. I'd find the CCs of the sites nearest you and test each one, or use the built in lookup tab in BTConfig... I pick up H best from Plainville Area, as I move deeper into Farmington Valley that drops off and L is my goto... I do hope the new Avon tower, whenever that goes up helps my get H from where I'm at.

I did ask this question once before I think the 700 MHz frequencies that Avon is licensed for are they going to use that for the state wide system or are they going to use that for their personal use? I don’t remember what the outcome was

Avon would not be applying for frequencies for CLMRN. The State applies for frequencies on the State system.

Avon might be doing what Bridgeport, Stamford, and more have done and build their own system and use the state core
That would be a bummer for people who wanted all the Troop H system traffic over the Avon sites

As long as they aren't like what new britain stand alone does, it would work. Basically only Troop H disp 1 goes over it while really none else does. It's funny because not even new britain bus goes over new britain site
