To be honest I don't do much scanning these days at all. When a police helicopter is circling the neighborhood I'll turn on the TRX-1 or one of many commercial radios that scan my local PD, otherwise those radios don't get much use. There is nothing out there frequency wise that I would give anyone 10c for.

I do spend some time tuning around the amateur and some military bands but I that is all "frequency of opportunity" stuff that is usually not documented and can come and go in an instant and never be repeated. My Internet roaming habits are similar and my ad blocking Raspberry Pi setup is priceless for keeping my sanity and not taking a shotgun to my computer monitor due to the endless adds out there. Do yourself a favor and get a Pi-hole or some other ad blocker, its good for your blood pressure and overall mental health.

I have 7 536's 1 sds200 2 436's 2 sds100's trx1 trx2 but I still pay to get my 325p2's 996p2's and 15's data and it is worth every dollar.

Maybe time to take the family for a walk to the park, face to face communication, etc. Sounds like to much time to scan on your hands. Life is too short to live it sitting down next to a scanner. Not meant as criticism, just a thought...

You do not have to stay I am very happy here with the current way things are.
Back in the day when you paid to download through a 3rd party FCC data a 50 mile circle would cost a couple hundred dollars so now I am getting a good deal 1200 baud and 8 hours long distance on a weekend those were the days.

I'm in the same boat.
I don't have a problem with any of this. I run an ad blocker. Yeah, I see the "turn it off" thing, but I "continue without supporting". Actually that "continue without supporting" thing annoys me. There's a lot of us here that have done a LOT to "support" this site.

But I get it. His site, his rules. If it starts to annoy me, there's other places to do this sort of stuff that don't require the ads. Bonus with those is that they have some requirements before they'll let people join, so it tends to be a slightly more refined clientele.

Either way, since he hasn't added any more obnoxious replies, I'll assume he came to his senses and realized starting posts with the intent of being antagonistic towards the very people who pay his yacht bills is probably a dumb idea.

Or, he just likes to wind us up every now and then and watch the 24 page thread continue to grow.

I think if we honestly looked in all our own hearts, we'd like to find a gig that worked out as well as this one did. If he's found his goose that lays golden eggs, I say "good for him". I won't wish ill on anyone for being successful.

Friends,

Tons of sites have "paywalls". In context of all the paywall sites out there, ad blockers are a pretty low bar to jump. This is coming from a very pro-ad block guy, but a premium subscriber here. I get more than I pay for. Maybe @blantonl may decide that some of the more prolific posters here like @mmckenna and @buddrousa deserve a "no-ad" level. Food for thought, add salt to taste. But I have no idea why this thread isn't locked already.

The optics would certainly be poor. The site owner who started the thread and invited "flames" locks the thread because reasons. Although I don't think optics are a priority here.

As a moderator (elsewhere), I don't think it would be my place to close a thread the site's owner started.

So here we are.

I don't agree, but thanks for the vote.

I'm not looking for anything for free. I'm here because I'm having fun and it has value to me. I read a lot of the posts on here and do get some value, even though I may not comment. I learned a lot from others in my younger years (and still am), and this is a way I can repay into that system.

I don't like the ads, but I'll deal with them. Bigger things to worry about in life…..

Sure, all the best CEOs do that  remember how Bill Gates used to go on Microsoft forums and throw a fit at Windows users? </sarcasm>

Maybe not, but they did throw some really off the walls conferences back in the day.
