Question. Will a Motorola XTS5000 pick up SAFE-T and do you need the IPSC state ID to do so?
Depending on the Flashcode Features it should and since it’s not a scanner you would need a state ID and program it with trunked channels. The only problem is, to my knowledge, IPSC is no longer issuing P25 IDs to anything older than a APX because of the lack of phase II compatibility. They are trying to phase out the XTS and XTLs and older.

When you say they’re looking to phase out XTS, are they looking to go TDMA?

So if I have an XTS on listen only would I be able to receive but not transmit without a state ID even when the changeover is complete?

Right now, your XTS can do non-affiliate scanning on SAFE-T just fine. My XTS is doing just that. But if you are wanting to actually use it as a subscriber, you won't be able to get a new ID issued to you. When they eventually go TDMA an XTS won't work, period. It's FDMA only.

Any new info on the timetable for widespread Phase II implementation specifically Johnson, Shelby & Morgan counties? Still holding off on a new Unication G4 & SDS200. Also any info if Indianapolis be changing in any way in the future?

I'll put it in my radios and see what I can hear. What site was it on?

Better luck on IGC north as that covers downtown heliport and areas around IU Health sites.

I've noticed that the IGC site carries far fewer talkgroups than the D52 site. I never hear INDOT on IGC. On D52 I hear a ton of adjacent county TGs that I don't see popping up on the IGC site.

IGC North does carry far more IPSC command, IDOC, IDHS, and carries the stuff for downtown when the Helo's and such are landing or lifting off from the downtown pads. Also carries a lot of the medical TG's for all the units doing interfacility transports, COVID runs, and such, as well as ISP traffic. Also is the main one I hear VA PD on when they go to SAFE-T. INDOT is set to not aff with IGC North except for the Statewide ones which rarely are used. IGC North is one of the few restricted set ups, like Greenwood. Not as locked down as the IDOC facility specific sites though, as those are not only aff restricted, but low power/local coverage ONLY for the most part. For example, the IWP site is barely readable a mile or so away from the facility, but the IWP radios also have access to the IGC North site and you do hear some IWP traffic when one of the IDOC radios aff's with it when they do runs to Eskenazi etc. But by far the biggest traffic on IGC North is IDOA operations at the IGC and Capitol Buildings. Oh and you hear a lot of IDNR also.

Also, it would make sense for IUH Lifeline to have their own TG since they already have SAFE-T access to pretty much ALL the Fire/EMS, Medical, Hospital ED/ER, and Medical Helo TG's, SWMA's, RMA's, Zone Events. Not to mention ERS-OCI is NOT fully statewide in coverage, and Lifeline IS statewide in scope. Also the fact that the helo TG can get very busy with it now being used by out of state helos when they come in, and it now is patched with other systems sometimes, and Lifeline does use it a lot for basic contact with LLC when they can't use ERS-OCI or the VHF. So having a dedicated LLC TG to use is a smart move.

Question....what unit IDs are being heard on this new TG? We have a LL base here but I have yet to catch any traffic on the new TG... are these ground units, air units, or both?
