Site 69

Scott Site 69 is on the air. I do not have the voice or control channel as I do not have my slicer running trunker anymore. The site comes up in my radio and gives great coverage. Can someone in Lafayette confirm the channels?

It seems in some areas they are placing the LWIN towers pretty close to each other. With the one already in Lafayette now one in Scott. There is a tower in Sunset at Troop I used for the State 800 system is this one going to also be used in the future for LWIN. You would think since it is already up they would use this one instead of one in Scott and in Lafayette. Another question the one used for LWIN in Lafayette is it a new tower or is it the same tower that the Lafayette City and Parish currently uses for their 800 system. I was thinking it was an existing tower and not a new one.

I am passing through Lafayette and Scott in a couple of days. If anyone can post the Scott Control Channel soon would be great help. And of course if there are any new ones that is not listed between Lafayette and Lake Charles and some has them please post as well.

In answer to teebee's question the Lafayette tower is the one located at Troop I headquarters at the intersection of I-49 and Pont Des Mouton Road.

The Scott site appears to be located on one of the two very tall towers right next to each other off Ole Colony Road between Ambassador Caffery Pkwy and Westgate Road. One of these towers houses the antennas for the Lafayette Parish 800 system and the other just got the new antennas of the correct type at about the same time that the Scott site went active. I drove by these towers with only the Scott control channel programmed in my scanner and I got a full strength S-meter indication with the antenna removed, squelch set to max, and global attenuation on.

Scott Site

Landman,

I can confirm your information. The Scott site is located next to the Lafayette 800 site. The reason that this site was placed here is to improve in building coverage in the downtown Lafayette area. It has worked tremendously as I usually have "3 or 4 bars" now, as opposed to almost no coverage with just the Lafayette site.

Hello. I'm a NOLA native, ex-police officer, new to scanning & to RR, and wanted to introduce myself to the forum. I'm using two PSR-600's to become more aware of crime in our area. I've got JPSO coming in well, but NOPD has been very troublesome for me to receive. Any tips would greatly be appreciated.

These are the Ferriday tower site freqs.: 770.19025 cc, 770.19375, 770.78125, 771.03125, 771.68125 & 772.28125. All of these freqs. are verified and the system is working well in the Concordia and Catahoula Parish area. Catahoula Sheriff's Office and the Jonesville PD have all but abandoned their hi-band freqs. in favor of the new 700 system. Some light use by the Concordia Sheriff's Office, at this time.

I'm just learning about the LWIN change. I have a radioshack pro-95 dual trunking scanner. Will I be able to pick up this LWIN system?
thanks

No, the 95 doesn't do digital, or have 700 MHz trunking ability. The LWIN is a pure APCO P-25 700 MHz TRS.

Anyone traveling up to the Tallulah area please give an ear to the LWIN site there and see if it is active. Also any confirmation on the MPSO, TPD usage of it, and thier 800 MHz conventional, or confirmation of the VHF still in use would be lovely!

Has LWIN crashed? Or gone encrypted without us knowing it? Last night I was trying to listen to them and whenever I lock in on on of the talk group ID''s it would say,"Finding Control Channel"
