Coast Guard Intercept Practice
Did anyone else catch the CG intercept practice on Wednesday over 260.900 and the CG air frequencies? They were flying over my house with 2 HH-65 and were playing cat and mouse. It was pretty neat to watch.

Yes, I did, they were up there for almost 2 hours.
Not much activity on the radio or here, what happened?

4 F-15's from EGLIN Air Force base, Fla will be conducting a flyby at Comerica park for the home opener around 1:05PM Friday.
They're flying circles now. I saw them yesterday too. This is around the Woodward/12 mi area.
It was cool the first time. Now I'm at home, and it's pretty darn annoying! Suckers are loud. This is like the 5th time they've circled. Makes me want to play Hawx on PS3....lol..

I wish I could have seen that, I heard them on 363.200 Mhz just before noon telling Detroit approach that they had 60 minutes until time on target.

Sure raised a lot of eyebrows. Can't remember the last time they let them just fly about waiting for their queue. Usually it's in and out, awfully lot of money up there dilly dallying around for an hour. Not to mention no commercial air traffic seen during that time.
I was in West Bloomfield and Commerce during their flight time and had them close to the ground up there more than once. (well, relatively speaking)

F-15's over Detroit.
I work at 8 Mile & Mound & saw them come out of the west, east bound then turn south east right over me & pass over Detroit City airport @ 12:23pm. A few minutes later they were northwest bound, then turn west & gone.

F-15's from Tyndall, still at Selfridge.
Hello all,
I went out to Selfridge today (04-12-09) to see if the F-15's were still there, & they were. 4 F-15's tail codes TY, from Tyndall AFB. I couldn't tell which squadron they were from, there is only 2 F-15 squadrons left at Tyndall. The 2nd FS, & the 95th FS. They were parked in the transient area on the east ramp.
I left MTC around 04:30pm, & they were still there. If I don't have to work tomorrow, I might go back out there to see if they leave.

Hello all,
The Tyndall F-15's finally left Monday mid morning. They were here since Thursday, for the Tigers home opener fly over on Friday. I didn't have to work Monday so I went out to Selfridge to watch them depart. When I arrived they were opened up, but not started yet. So I moved to the north side of Selfridge by Wal Mart (M-59, & I-94). Watched them depart from there. The call sign was BONE & BONES he said both.

Anyone catch the C-17 doing low approaches today? I sat in my car at Wal-Mart and watched him for a while. Of course I didn't have my scanner with me....

HIRE 12 was the call sign for the C-17. I've sat at Wally World also to watch aircraft. The spot on the south side by Bridgeview is all torn up with construction on the bridge until Nov. Have you checked out the new road just east of I-94 on Rosso Hwy / Hall Rd? It's a nice road as long as it doesn't rain. It floods in a few spots. I almost ran over a duck when I was there Saturday.
They had a flyby ceremony on saturday @ 4:00pm. 3 F-16's from Toledo (LOMA 11) flew by first, then 3 A-10's (DEMON 11) did a flyby & landed, then the F-16's came back & did another flyby then landed. The F-16's stayed until Sunday. They departed around Noon, went to do some ACM in STEELHEAD MOA, then RTB'd to Toledo.
At least 7 A-10's are at Selfridge.
They fly 3 in the morning, & 3 in the afternoon so far. DEMON 11 is a flt of 2, & TAJAS 21, or YALTA 31 is a single A-10. I'm still not used to hearing those call signs, & knowing it's A-10's, not F-16's.
