Is it possible to get this thread as a sticky at the beginning of the forum. There is a lot of great info being posted here, also a lot of pages, seems like a keeper to me. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Chuck,

That saves a lot of searching, I have also heard them on 139.625 but not recently. Also I used to hear them on 318.7 going back to Selfrige ( I think I spelled that right) but they must have switched that one. Thanks agian.

P.S. what exactly do they do up in the Steal Head is it training? Seems like a long way to go from Detroit.

The military operating areas (MOAs) are used for various training including dogfights, simulated air-to-ground attacks, refueling, coordination with an air boss, low-level flying, NVG flights, etc. And really they aren't far at all. For example, its 70 nm from Selfridge to the center of Steelhead MOA.... an A-10 cruising at 300 knots can get there in less than 14 mins, an F-16 from Toledo (136 nm) can get there in 24 mins doing 350 knots.

Thank you KMTC for answering the question from Moonbounce. Excellent answer also.
Bad Axe is usually Bull (Bullseye) in the STEELHEAD (Like the fish) MOA, when they do Air 2 Air combat. I've also heard them use Bad Axe airport as a target for Air 2 Ground missions.

139.625 Is Toledo V 06 A 2 A freq.
318.700 That sounds familliar, but I can't place it right now. 381.700 was the old PISTON Ops. Was that the freq you were trying to type? ;~)
381.800 Was the old USCG Ops. Now it's 345.000

Thanks KMTC I dragged the map out and you right Bay City is not that far off, I was thinking waaay up north, duh. I am trying to get a collection of most active frequecies so I don't have to have 400 channel dedicated to military monitoring.

The Detriot airshow is coming up, should be this weekend right? That should be good for getting most active freq.

Thanks again
Moonbounce

P.S. how about military helicopters, would they have the same freq. or would they be different. If they are different, could you possibly post a few or point me in a direction that I could find them. Thanks.
