Genesee County is going encrypted with the new radios that we just paid for with the 911 fee increase... It's not a "rumor" but is coming/here... Fire main and FG's will still be in the clear.. But PD channels and even some fire admin channels are going strapped..... I like how they have kept it quiet and didn't make any mention of it when they were asking for the 911 fee increases... Also the whole 800mhz paging mess that's going on... They could have upgraded the VHF system. MPSCS didn't want to support it but if the county would have gone to motorola they would have certainly upgraded/installed an upgraded VHF simulcast system for paging.. just like they did for livingston county.

Fenton City has the new radios in as well. Per the police chief normal traffic on 393P911 will be in the clear.. However a unit can go strapped for sensitive information... Information that they would normally use a cell phone for can be transmitted once the go secure..

I just went and pulled a channel report for the T0214 site. Since last Monday 2018-04-23 till Saturday 2018-04-28 the following talkgroups have had encrypted traffic/channel grants.

It's not rumors GeneseeCoMI... It's getting deployed and radios are starting to test... Now there are delays before full time hits... But it's coming. And the screen shot that was provided to you before was from the public meeting notes from the 911 Consortium's Board Meeting.

The big silent push to go this way is we have people who show up and "report" from scenes and publish word for word transcripts on social media in real time of incidents. These facebook live streams from citizens who are not credential media showing up "reporting live" or just getting in officers faces while they are responding to calls. Had a whacker running from one side of the county to the other just to post to facebook.. He was caught finally. They had an officer stage in a place where the guy would be know to travel through to "respond" and the guy blew the 4way. That's what the officers/firefighters are dealing with on scene and why they want things encrypted...

And my sources.. Police and Fire Chiefs in this county and members of 911 and the 911 advisory committee...

I wouldn't panic. Macomb County has had 'some' encrypted TG's for years. However they're not always encrypted. Even when encryption is not implemented, they often use data, or cellphones for serious/sensitive incidents that require it for officer safety and crowd control.

4196 as well. Some of the radios are affiliating with Crawford county Fire or Sheriff TG's,
Trying to get more info on the following:
5400 is some sort of EMS paging channel for Roscommon County.. trying to catch it.
11688.. I see this one and awhile. most of it is encrypted.

Can anyone confirm if the new Gaylord tower is online or not? It's supposed to be right next to the Gaylord MSP Post. Likewise, is the tower constructed and ready to go or not? Apparently, its going to be a low profile site with a limited footprint.

I'm curious if anyone knows something about the Ottawa County Simulcast and when it's going online? Also I heard talkgroup 7186 on the Hart Tower Site in Oceana county yesterday. One radio was giving someone else directions to the Health Department. One side was encrypted so it was a one sided conversation.

Just heard encrypted traffic on 11688 on Saginaw Simulcast. Judging from talkgroups near that TGID, most likely associated with Midland County.

11688 is used by system technicians for inspecting, performing maintenance, or repairing transmitter sites. It's almost always encrypted but for a few weeks a few radios in the field were not using any encryption so enough info was transmitted to determine it's use.

The database should be updated for this talk group.

I drove by today. Didn't see anything different than normal. There is one short tower on the roof of the post with one antenna.

There is another tower across the street but I think that has been there too. See attached. Didn't have my scanner with me.
